Looking at buying a Jayco fifth wheel
Hi I am considering buying a Jayco fifth wheel. It will be my first 5th wheel. I pull a 33ft travel trailer now. Really having a hard time choosing a manufacture. Looking at Jayco, Open Range (now owned by Jayco) and Grand Design Solitude. I really loved the interior of the Keystone Alpine but after going to their owners forum decided against it. Too many major problems. Really having a hard time deciding. Plus the nervousness of never pulling a 5th wheel. Most people tell me they are easier than the travel trailer I now own. Any thought or advice. I thought I had my mind made up but that changed after watching a few videos of how these are made. Any help would be appreciated.

We just went from a 24' travel trailer to a 5th wheel this year, and I certainly won't go back. World of difference in towing, like others said it would be. A little different backing up, but dosen't take long to get used to it.

Traded a 30 ft. Colorado bumper pull for a fifth wheel. It is much nicer to pull and I will put in a plug for Jayco quality over Dutchman.

Rory and grumpy are on it. Like rry we upgraded from a 4500# 24' hybrid to a 12700# 39' 5th. Make sure you have the TV suited to the 5th you pick. We miss the HTT but could never go back.
Turning and backing are different and took some getting used to. Towing is excellent! Very stable and smooth.

5th wheel
 I have decided on the fifth wheel for sure. Now to pick manufacture and floor plan. Decided to post on this forum because I am considering Jayco, Open Range, and Grand Design Solitude.

Personally, after looking at many of the brands that are out there, you cannot go too wrong with a Jayco. There is a possibility of things being wrong with any brand. Jayco, I found is easy to work with for warranty issues. Also they stand behind their two year (and occasionally a little over) warranty. 5th wheels are actually very easy to tow and I found it very easy to back up, even around corners on streets. Like anything, it just takes practice and some patience. Enjoy looking for your new rv, no matter which brand you choose.

Like RedHorse said, zero bias on leaning toward Jayco on this site. LOL !!!
In all seriousness, I have owned 3 Jayco's and I would never switch or go to another manufacture. Once you own the quality and have the support of Jayco behind you, it is hard to look anywhere else. I am sure there are other manufactures that put out good product. Jayco makes it hard to look elsewhere in my opinion. Good luck with what you choose as there is much to choose from in the 5th wheel lineup Jayco offers.

We looked at the Grand Design Solitude last year and actually put $ down to order one, but my DW was so tense with our decision every day we changed our mind and kept our Jayco for another season. We just ordered a 2016 Pinnacle on 4/1 and she never batted an eye. We went to see it last Saturday and it is PERFECT. Picking it up Saturday morning. As far as the Grand Design, they are a new company without a lot of testing time on the road and I think that's what made her nervous. As far as towing a 5er it's hands down easier and less stressful than pulling a TT. No more "White Knuckles" driving down the road and when semi's pass you there is very little turbulence with the 5er vs. the TT. I have owned many brands and we always come back to Jayco.

Thank you so much for your input. It is greatly appreciated. This is such a big decision as you know. I am excited to switch to a 5r. I was nervous at first but everyone has told me that if I can pull a 34ft tt behind a 2500 Suburban. With the hitching in between. I can pull a 5r. I am a women and usually travel alone with my dogs. So I want the safest set up. So besides picking the trailer I also had to pick a new tow vechile. Ugh! Nail biting! To say the least.

I was just wondering if anyone has taken the Jayco factory tour. I live in Michigan and was thinking about making a trip down since it could be a day trip.

I say, pick the 5er you want then find the truck. You'll get the whole debate about Ford vs Dodge vs GM. Good luck. We switched to Ford from Dodge because I wanted something that's made more in America than not.

I already picked the truck. Will be ordering a truck so I get exactly what I want. Went back and forth between two manufacters. Big decision. Pick ups are EXPENSIVE!!! Lol
