I bought my 1st 5th wheel about 2 years ago ad love it. I would look at buying a B&W turn over ball hitch and get there 5th wheel hitch. I have that and love it.

We did the same thing. First vehicle we ever sat down with the dealer and ordered the way we wanted it. Took delivery on it last November. So far, I have yet to get into the truck and say, "Darn, I wish I had gotten the __________(fill in the blank) Option." A lot of money, but kind of nice to have exactly what you want.

So what Tow Vehicle did you pick? Hopefully diesel, worth every penny... Did u go with a dually? My wife is wanting to upgrade to a fifth wheel toy hauler some kind of bad. Probably next summer as we just bought our bumper pull less than 18 moths ago....

We are looking at purchasing the 2016-293RKDS after 5 miserable years with a Cross Road unit. Any feedback from owners of this unit would be much appreciated. This will be our 4th fifth wheel and believe this is the best way to travel!

I went with jayco. Looked at big country nice but not jayco quality.
Ours is 2015 323 5thpulls like a dream . Traded in jayco 2014 338 , almost 40 ft in length won't go back ,fifth wheel you don't even know it's back there. Backing up no problem but I grew up on a farm.

The 293rkds is 2,000 pounds lighter than our current unit. It is also 600 pounds lighter on the pin. That is going to give a break to our 2009 duramax.

Punk Peach ....Glad you asked this we to are going to get a 5th wheel but it will be a Jayco..just bought the 1st part of it a 6.7 power stroke..But I am wondering which type of hitch is the best to get? I see so many different ads? anyone??

Are you getting a long bed or short bed. That will make a difference on the hitch type. We have a short bed, standard hitch and Reese Sidewinder. Found out that the Reese Revolution and Sidewinder are the same. It's called the Revolution on the OEM, and Sidewinder for aftermarket installation. My combination is a lot lighter than a auto-slide hitch so I have no trouble (so far) getting it on and off the truck.

We also pulled a 33 Ft pull behind for several years. Went to the 36 foot 5th wheeler 2 years ago and have never looked back. Overall distance is about the same since the front of the 5er is sitting in the middle of the pick up bed. We are also on our 3rd Jayco product in the last 15 years and would not think of switching. Had some initial problems from the factory with this unit but our dealer was extraordinary in handling all the problems. He even went to the extremes of having a technician come out to our unit 400 miles from where we purchased the unit. I think that was going the extra mile! Jayco always for me.

Lark,

If you have the camper package installed on your 6.7, check out the B&W Companion hitch that fits the puck system. I upgraded to this one from my SuperGlide auto-slider and absolutely love it. Now if you need a slider, the PullRite SuperGlide is a great hitch but expensive and heavy.

I went with the 16K Reese Titan hitch. It is a dual jaw system that hugs the pin all the way around. The good thing and the reason I bought it is that it eliminated any chucking. The bad, it is so precise that it takes a little learning to hitch and unhitch. Once I got the method down, again, no biggy. Still more than most would put up with. Pulls like a dream. I hear a lot about the B&W, so I had my father in law get one for his new 2500 Ram. He loves it. That is why I love this community. You learn a ton and eventually use the information later to avoid some bad experiences. Putting the JT Strong Arm on the 5er tomorrow. Again, something I learned about here on JOF.

We had a Jayco TT and sold it to buy a 5W. The 5W was not a Jayco. Had so many issues that I dreaded going camping. Took that 5W and traded it in on a Jayco, don't think I'll ever leave the Jayco, just better quality.

I am getting a diesel 3500 SRW. Leaning long box. The box lenght his the only thing I am not sure of. Don't need the extra storage the long box provides. But am worried about hitting the trailer with the truck with a shorter box. Some people have stated the long box is a little more stable. This will be my everyday vehicle. Not looking forward to parking a long box at the mall Lol. The Suburban is hard enough. Didn't pick a dually. My friend hated his in our Michigan winters. He said it was terrible in the snow. Heard that from quite a few people. Really didn't want a dually for my everyday vehcile. Running errands etc. Any thoughts on bed length?

I have had short bed , long bed and dually. Pros and cons of all. If you need the truck for everyday use and only camp once In a while I would go with a short box . The turning radius is a lot tighter and you can get a slider hitch if needed. Those long boxes takes a football field to turn around in. I presently have a long box dually and love it for towing the fiver but I am retired and this is not my everyday ride if it was I would have went with a short box .

Thank you for your response. Will only be using the 5r about 5-6 months out of the year. A couple trips a month. Short box would be easier but just wondering about stability.

I drive my LB Dually as a daily driver and my DW can't believe some of the places I can get the truck into to park and what not. I can even make a few drive-thru's. As far as driving it in the snow. It's not the best, but I have 4WD and I plow snow with it. It took some getting use to for sure. The LB does give a better ride, but I have towed with a SB too and it worked fine. I have a slider that was in the SB that I still use in the LB just because I didn't want to waste the $$ to buy a new one. You have to get what YOU feel you will need and what you are comfortable driving. Good luck with your choice.

The fiver in my sig is my first. I bought the truck to pull it. It is the short bed and I bought a Pullrite 2700 as the hitch. It does its thing without me thinking about it which is worth it to me. Previous camper was a Jayco Whitehawk 27 DSRL pulled by a Ford F-150 Ecoboost. I'm a happy Jayco customer with a good dealer supporting me. I'm enjoying learning how to camp with and tow my first fiver with the helpful advice I learn from this forum.

we purchased a 2015 Jayco 38FLFS and love the quality of the unit. We originally had an 2011 Open Range and traded that it for this. We also were on the fence about the Grand Design but we liked the tank size and gas generator installed from factory. We could not be more pleased with our purchased. In addition to being heavy it does tow very well on the road. Just be careful about turns in smaller campgrounds.
