Looking to purchase 1st Jayco 5th wheel

This is my first post on this forum and we would appreciate your feedback to our questions. We are looking at purchasing a 2015 Eagle Premier and would appreciate thoughts/recommendations that are out there. One thing I have seen on this unit is the fading paint on the front nose. Is this common, and is Jayco receptive to making repairs? Thanks for your responses in advance.

Tom,

There are, literally, thousands of topics covering just about any issue or question you might have on this forum.

Wear on the nose is quit common as it takes a pretty good beating. Unless you have some kind of transferable, in-force warranty I wouldn’t think Jayco would touch it - not for free, anyway. I’m guessing that many dealers can repaint it for you.

My personal thought, however, is that even before you buy it, find a Pre-Delivery Inspection Form, referred to a a PDI (on this forum and many others) and go over your rig before you plunk down any money.

Welcome to the forum, and to Team Jayco!

Welcome from Alabama!
Just curious: Why have you decided on a fiver versus a TT? I am pondering the factors for both myself.

Welcome.

And as was said repainting would be on your dime as a second owner. JAYCO was not the only company who had fading issues. Front caps are molded by a 3rd party supplier and they had many issues a few years ago.

Hello Tom,
Jayco doesn't have any warranty transferred options and second the warranty is only for two years. Several units in the past had bad painted front caps and were replaced under warranty. The unit that your looking at is out of warranty so if you bought it any repairs would be on you. One way to find out if there were any upgrades available on this unit is call Jayco and give them the last eight numbers of the VIN. I did this on a unit I was looking at back in 2012 and Jayco was very helpful. Good luck in your adventure on buying your first 5er.
Chris

We own an Eagle Premier. Love the unit.We do have the oxidation on the front cap.As others said Jayco and others had this issue seems the darker caps are susceptible to this. We have the REQS and just purchased a 2016 Ram dually to pull with. Some concern about the height of the truck and pulling level. May have to move the spring shakle bolts.

We have a 361REQS and have front cap fading. We bought used so no warranty. Initially I tried polishing it but that's a waste of time. This summer I'll look into painting it. Not sure if I can do it myself (I've sprayed before). The other option might be a vinyl wrap but I haven't looked into that.

Other than the cap I've had no major issues. Suspension wore out, that's normal. OE tires are junk, that's normal. Cabinetry and trim are crap, that's normal. Schwintek slides sukk, that's normal.

We have a 2014 Eagle Premier. We had the front cap repainted under warranty. We had several other small things fixed under warranty. Jayco and the dealer were excellent about making repairs. After a couple of years the bugs are worked out and it seems to be a good product. There is always room for improvement in all RV's. The biggest headache was the tires. Spend the money and get some good tires with a good reputation. We went with MAXXIS tires.
