Looks like I'm back!

It's been quite a long time since I've posted here (2013)`to be exact, but we're getting ready to pull the trigger on another Jayco! In 2013 we sold our Jayco (had 3 over the years) and bought a boat. Had the boat for a few years, but moved to a new city and weren't close to a lake any more Bought another TT that we had for a few years, but not a Jayco (there really IS a big quality difference) and sold it about a year ago

Now child #3 (of 6) is heading off to college in the fall, and this will put me into 5th wheel territory. This way we can get up to see the 2 kids in college, the one that's out, and back into camping. I recently bought a F350 with the 6.7 Power Stroke and we're about to ink a deal on a Eagle 355MBQS . This'll be my first 5th wheel, but I've pulled several TTs in the 32-35 ft realm.

Anything new, different or particular I should know about hitches, or anything else in general about 5th wheels?

Thanks!

Welcome back to the Forum from Western New York State!

We still have a TT, but I know you'll get a lot of responses from those that have 5ers. Enjoy the Eagle!

Welcome back! You’ve got tons of trailering experience, so not much different with a 5er, just watch the right turns as the trailer will track way inside the truck turn radius. You’ll enjoy the stability when a semi passes you, too!

Asking for a hitch recommendation here is like asking for Mexican restaurant recommendations [emoji23]. Don’t skimp on the hitch though! Good luck and enjoy!

Welcome back! At a minimum get a rubber pin box. 5ths chuck on bridge approachs. The rubber pin box takes most of it out.
Definitely a nicer pull with a 5th. You will love that 6.7 diesel! Horses wow! And pretty quiet in the cab. With our eagle most hills I just let the cruise control take care of shifting up and down. Big grades I shift down manually. Remember what ever gear it shifted down to climb the grade is the one to be in descending. Have fun and remember the journey is part of the experience. Stay calm, bring some tunes have fun!

I have the 355MBQS and love it, for me it is the best floor plan out there and I looked at everything. Of course that depends on your personal needs but it is a great unit.

Is your F350 a single or dual rear wheel truck and what is the cargo capacity? MY 355MBQS puts about 3,500 pounds on the truck when fully loaded so if you add in passengers and cargo you want at least 4,000 pounds of cargo capacity in your tuck and 4,500 would be better. I have a GMC 3500HD dually that is rated for 4,400 pounds and on some trips I am calculating weights for what I carry in the truck and camper.
