Lost Communication in BMPro

Greetings Friends,
Has anyone ever dealt with the situation where there BMPro says that itís connected to your WiFi and letís you operate your lights, furnace & air conditioner, but when you try to operate the motors (leveling or landing gear) it says ďLost CommunicationĒ? Iím rather perplexed by this. In the past, it would say lost communication but then after pressing a button (like Front Jacks Up or Down) it would switch from Lost Communication to Idle. Then it would operate fine. Yesterday at the dealer I was picking up my rig from getting serviced, and when the front jack were almost at the right height to hook up to my truck, it stopped working and said ďLost CommunicationĒ. And itís been stuck there ever since. Iíve deleted the BMPro on my phone and reinstalled it, so it does connect and work fine on everything but the motors. Help please?

I would go on the switches below the tablet inside the trailer go to OFF, then press EXT...wait for the system to power down...give it a minute or two. Press 1 to power up system....you may have to restart the BmPro app on tablet once everything powers up.

I'm guessing your talking about using your phone to connect to BMPro. There are two ways to connect your phone, the default method is bluetooth. Bluetooth quality varies by phone and by distance. To ensure the best results, bring your phone close to your camper. WIFI is only available when both your phone and your camper are logged into a WIFI source and you are connected to Winegard remote. When connected via WIFI, distance doesn't matter.

Hey Stan & Sharon. Thanks for replying. Yes, Iím referring to my phone. This is my 3rd year with this rig and Iíve never had a connectivity issue. I am connected to the rig via Bluetooth. I have no issue turning on all the lights, dimming them and operating the cooling system with my phone. Itís just when I try to operate the ďmotorsĒ that I get the error message ďLost ConnectionĒ. My big concern is that I didnít lose connection! I am connected, but the error message says Iím not! Very frustrating. I havenít rebooted yet. Iím hoping that helps.

Hi K,

I have had this problem for quite some time as well. I've tried several solutions to include (resetting the node) but the "lost communications"keeps coming back..

Learjet actually listed something I've never tried, so I tried it...... To my surprise it actually brought it back to "idle".....

Learjet, thanks for the tip! It sure is easier than tearing the leveling controls apart to find a loose connection... I'm now thinking it's an error from the tablet and the node, as resetting just the node doesn't always fix it...

Hey NoFly, I was able to rectify this situation very easily by just unplugging from shore power, and then unhooking my batteries completely from the trailer for about 10 minutes. Once I hooked it back up, everything worked fine again.

How long ago since you disconnected everything?
All in all, doing the disconnect like you described, basically shuts down power to everything on the rig, and basically becomes a "reset".... I'm wondering if this is a long-term solution or only lasts temporarily....

Thanks for the reply!

I unplugged my power and batteries based on a suggestion by BMProís engineering team. Nothing else I tried worked. I asked what caused this issue in the first place, and they said it couldíve been caused by an update in the system that caused a glitch. Who am I to dispute the validity of that. But what I do know, is that it is working now. It was several weeks ago that I performed the system shutdown. I might add that they specifically said you canít just hit the battery disconnect switch, you have to remove the terminals altogether. I hope itís still working in the spring when itís time to camp. But if not, it was a simple fix. Good luck

K,

Thanks for the reply! Very True, it certainly isn't that had to do. Thanks again for the update to the issue.
