Low point drain

Hey All,Eagle m-27 sgx htx
I am trying to winterize and I can’t get hot or cold to drain out low point drain, right after each valve they 90 and go down under trailer , this was maybe designed for freez purposes but if they are plugged I can’t get a small wire to break loose , I understand how valves work , in line their open at a 90 to the line their closed ,do these valves pop up or down .? thought I could give it a couple short blasts of air , any ideas would be appreciated , thanks Danolamo

If they have a "T" handle, they lift up a little. You can hear them 'click' when they open or close. Opening faucets helps the lines drain faster, along with the water heater.

Yes, open the relief valve on the WH and you should get a good flow if the valves are open.

They look like this, pull up to open, push down to close, if you turn they wont do anything.

I know with mine they can be a little stubborn and take a really good push or pull to close/open. Not easy when they are hard to reach. Like JFlight said, listen for the click.

Yes, pull up about a 1/4” to open. They just have two “O” rings in each one. To disassemble You can remove the clip holding them and pull the valve up and out. Then you can replace the O rings, or lubricate with some vegetable oil.

I replaced them both with brass ball valves. The originals were dripping all the time.
