I have the Progressive Industries EMS-PT50X and it has saved our bacon on many occasions. About a year ago it shut down the power because of an extreme drop in voltage. Turned out to be a loose connection in the pedestal. The night before last it shut down power in the middle of the night. Went out in the morning to check it and it was reading E-2 which is a bad ground. The RV park immediately sent out their resident maintenance man and he checked it thoroughly and is instruments did not detect a ground problem. We took the EMS to another pedestal and it did not detect any errors which led us to believe there was a problem with our pedestal. Plugged in back in, it went through the diagnostics and did not detect any errors. Been fine for the last 24 hours. Don't know if it was a false reading or not.

Another good choice, Al. I know that PI has a cult-like following, esp with customer support. According to the recent TechnoRV survey, Surge Guard and PI share 90% of the market with each owning about 45%, with the last 10% shared by Hughes, Camco and others.

Angus, If this one ever poops out, I'm going to go with Hughes since they are serviceable. I don't understand paying $356 for an EMS system that you have to throw away if it takes a hit from a big surge.
