LP Gas Accessory Connection

Since this connection pressure is regulated at the bottle connection, what kind of accessories can use such a low pressure? I tried to connect my portable grill that uses the disposable bottles with another regulator. Not enough pressure/flow to light a flame.

Am I going to need to fabricate a special connection for my grill?

You need to remove the grills regulator and figure out how to connect to the camper supply. I run my grill and my Blackstone off a quick connect but I removed both of their regulators...

Got it. No regulator but a valve to control flow.

Just the accessories valve. I do have shut off's at my quick connects but as far as controlling the gas at the device its just whatever controls there are.

Running more than one regulator will cause the item to under perform. So you have to remove the regulator from the device or come off the high pressure side before the main regulator. Most devices have removable regulators. I have several LP items that I removed the regulators from to convert from high pressure to low pressure and adapted to low pressure quick connects.

Question, more info needed. Does the RV/Trailer have quick disconnects?
If it does not, then you could simply get a hose with a regulator and connect up to the tank directly.

If it does, as others have mentioned you only need a hose to connect to the quick disconnects that is the correct end for your grill. Thankfully most of these are standardized so a simple search on Amazon will be your biggest help/friend. IE. here is a hose like what I use for my blackstone to get it away from the trailer. You can also find similar for other grill types or firepits etc... just make sure it does not have the extra regulator on it.

Thanks Stan. And everyone. I replaced the QD/Shutoff valve recently. You all confirmed that I need only one regulator which makes sense really. Now to find some fittings and adapters. . . . .

I got an adapter that fits between your propane bottle and your trailer’s connection. No modifications needed on your gas grill and works great. It attaches to your grill just like the small bottle. Also allows an external propane tank to be hooked to you tank for extended stays. I have not used that yet.

Like a good camper I went out and bought a Coleman propane stove. I have used a white gas version since I was in my teens. But it is a pain in the rear to convert the darned thing. Anyone try just having a way to refill the little green bottles from your quick connect?

I would not travel with white gas in my RV, and does not make sense to use that stove vs the one in the trailer, for safety reasons.

There are "valves" on Amazon that say they can do the refill of the 1lb from any larger tank, I have never used one so cannot speak to effectiveness or not. Here is one that had 16k reviews (not sure how many are real vs fake)
https://www.amazon.com/GasOne-Propan...%2C114&sr=8-46

If you have a quick disconnect though why not use one of these?
https://www.amazon.com/Monkemon-Prop...%2C114&sr=8-16

I have a Coleman stove as well, again have not tried this so not sure if it leaks so use at own risk. Maybe someone else on here has used one. I grabbed my blackstone connector and it screws into the coleman correctly and seems seated correctly as well. This would get you a method to connect to the low pressure without a second regulator. Worth a try, if does not work or leaks send back for free... (just make sure it says ships from amazon)

We bought a Char-Broil Grill2Go X200 Portable TRU-Infrared Liquid Propane Gas Grill.
I replaced the regulator/valve on the grill with a 1/4" NPT gas valve, adapter and 12 foot gas hose. It works great.

Before the new-fangled propane bottles with the new valve, I used a straight line with a POL. Attach to 20lb bottle, turn bottle upside down, and transfer liquid propane into smaller bottle.

With the new bottles it won't work upside down and I could only transfer vapor.

I, too, would like to know if anything better has come along to refill smaller bottles.

Correct...keep the burner control valve and get rid of the regulator. It's possible that you have a burner control valve and a separate regulator that are threaded together. You may be able to separate the two. If so, all the threaded connections are standard sizes.

It's likely that the input to your burner control is "female." So all you need is a male thread/male quick connect. Then you add an extension hose...maybe 10 feet.

The key is that you need only one regulator to drop the propane tank pressure to "low" pressure for appliances. All propane appliances run on essentially the same regulated low pressure. The fittings and regulators on small appliances all use 1/4" pipe thread, and the quick connects are all standardized.

The same male quick connect is available with a female threaded fitting...in case that's what you need.

If your appliance does not have a separate burner control valve, I'd be surprised. The reason is that propane regulators are standardized, replacable parts. But if you don't have a separate burner control valve, they are available. Let's hope you don't have to go there.

Following the advice given here, I found an adapter to "T" off unregulated LP. An extra length of hose and Viola! GoodToGo!

Thanks

No regulator needed. I got this for my Blackstone. It works great.

I always use that connection whenever I'm deep frying something so I can do it outside. I use it often. Last night I hooked every thing up but there is no gas coming out of the connection. All other LP devices are working just fine. Any ideas?

Not to be insulting but in the picture it looks like the shut off is closed. Did you open it when in use? Also after verifying you have propane turn off at the tank and then slowly turn the tank on. There is a safety that will shut off flow if it believes there is a leak. Finally look for any debris in either side of the connector.
