We use the blaster Teflon dry lube every six months. I spray all the moving points on the arm and Inside the track and spray the arms, wherever they make contact with the stationary track. Make sure to take a paper towel and wipe it down. Lube your step also with the same, but if you have a slider use the Teflon dry slider lube. Trust me, after over 55 plus years of camping, with motorhome, trailers, fifth wheels, tent trailers, etc. it will save you a lot of headaches and much, much money in the long run….. good luck. Don’t use WD-40, it will attract dirt, hence the dry lube.

Had our unit 4 years now and while retracing our awning it sounded terrible and ratcheted quite a bit for the last few years. I lubed all the connection points but it didnt help with the ratcheting. Thanks to this thread I sprayed a little lube on the strut arms/pistons and low and behold the ratcheting has now stopped and it rolls up smoothly. Thanks for the advice!
