Max Air Vent Fan
I know this has been posted on this forum numerous times and I apologize up front. But I'm limited on time and need quick answer.
We have a 2019 Jayco Eagle 317RLOK. It's currently at dealership having minor last minute warranty work before warranty runs out. Question to those that have changed out to Max Air vent fan, was it worth the costs? Our fan seems to work pretty good, but not sure if upgrade worth it. Other than for someone who is 5'2" to reach that red button!
Please provide which model if you own one, there appears to be several!
Thank you!

The Maxair or Fantastic fan are both 6000% better than a standard factory vent fan sent with most campers. You never stated what the original one that came with your camper was. My 5th wheel came standard with Maxair fans already installed so upgrading them would have been redundant. Our smaller camper came with a crappy little vent fan that barely moved any air. We upgraded to a Fantastic Vent fan and it pulls so much air that it will pull the camper door shut if no windows are open. Huge difference
The Maxair fans on the 5th wheel have remotes since reaching the ceiling to close them would be impossible without a stool. They are also rain sensing so they close if they sense rain. That part is useless to me since we put vent covers on all out vents so we can leave them open all the time.
The Fantastic Fan we have has no remote since it’s reachable, it has a thermostat so I can set it to turn off and on at a certain temp. No rain sensor since it too has a vent cover.

This link does a good job breaking down the models:
https://www.airxcel.com/rv/maxxair/p...maxxfan-deluxe
The 7000 (white) and 7500 (smoke) are the ones that people stated they loved the most. In two weeks I'm replacing my stock fan in my 377 RLBH with a 7000 and I can't wait. Everyone stated it was a fairly simple upgrade and was a game changer. It obviously draws air out but can also reverse and act like a ceiling fan. I think it's also great that you can leave it open during a rain thanks to the lid design.
Like any other parts, they are becoming difficult to locate due to COVID / manufacturing issues.

The short answer is ABSOLUTELY worth the time / expense. My only regret is waiting as long as I did to make the swap....

I replaced the junk, failed the second trip, stock fan with an Airxcel 7500. I was an easy swap since the camper was new. I did have to trim the factory interior trim ring as the one that came with the replacement one was to short to fit, but that was not a big deal. IMHO it was worth every penny. The remote solves the reach issue, and it moves A TON of air!

This is the one I put in and I love it:
Maxxair 0007500K MaxxFan Smoke Grey Deluxe Remote Fan Lid
Remote is great, my wife couldn't reach the red button before, on 20% it is silent and will keep the bathroom moisture free during a shower and on 100% it will suck all the heat out. On 100% I can stand in the doorway to the camper and feel the air going by.
Definitely worth doing.

X2. The first thing I changed on my 321RSTs. Wife could not reach the fan. Remote works great.

I got a great deal, from all places, Camping World. Did it myself, model 4500(10 speed with remote, auto opening, temp controlled). Took about an hour to install and 45 minutes of that was cleaning Dicor off roof after removal of the stock fan.

Funny you should ask. Read my current thread on the MaxxAire fan 7500k. Currently trying to deal with AirExcel, maker of the MaxxAire fan. Terrible customer service. I'm having issues with mine, four months old, and they're telling me I have to take it in to an RV service center, they'll mail the parts but I have to pay labor for any work. Such BS. May be worth having your dealer install it for you so they'll cover you for the warranty period. Just sayin.

My fan was also too high, had to climb on the bed. I put a draw cord switch to turn it on and off

AndyO...I will be changing to the Maxxair Deluxe also but I’m sure I will have a ring, or interior shroud issue also. Since it’s made of plastic, how do you trim it without it shattering the edges you just cut?

I just used a pair of snips, a decent pair of scissors would probably work as well. Work slowly, you will be fine.
