The repair shop also looked at kitchen slide and said it was installed wrong and would need to be removed and reinstalled. I also have 4 staples poking up thru roof, black tank valve broken and dinette slide sagging in middle and dropped 1/2" on one end but still works. I would like to get suspension change because I have 2 trips planned in Sept. one over 2000 miles. and then I might carry back to factory and let them do repairs.

I didn't say anything earlier, because i didn't think it was that big of a deal. I know that the center crown on the same dinette slide completely fell off some time last year when i was running 110 psi, which is why I backed off to 105. I just think these heavy 5'ers need some kind of suspension relief while rolling down the highway. IMHO Tom made a good decision putting the shocks on. That will be my next "big" ticket item that I add.

It would be nice if someone made airride for these trailers. That's one thing I definitely miss from the Mobile Suites.

Nope, that’s one think I haven’t had. And I’ve never had any Ground Control problems either.
My slide is being worked on AGAIN though!!!!

Rock had suspension issues.

Jack, stuff falls out when I open the front compartment. Hahaha.

Ah yes, it was Rock. Sorry Klassic.

So not the springs. Weird. If the tires make contact with the underside of the trailer I don’t see how swapping to the 4000 will help unless
It is longer and hangs down lower than the 3000. It has an inch more suspension travel so if it is the same length as the 3000 that would mean it allow more contact with the bottom of the trailer.

They are also changing the springs to 4000lb

Tom

Are you able to run all three of your ac’s at the same time? Spoke to Scott today he said I would only be able to run two at a time.

I would think so. Depends on which leg of the electric it was hooked to but toy haulers and class A’s run 3 all the time.

Update from last year

And here’s his reply to my question why are they wearing this way:
“The bouncing you describe for such a short period of time is not likely the culprit of your shoulder wear. This shoulder (river – what we tire guys call it) wear is a result of a much longer distance traveled. This condition is a characteristic of radial tires on a free rolling axle. It is more prevalent where the tire is over-inflated because the footprint is not flat on the road. There is a radius to the footprint that causes the shoulders to be raised off the asphalt slightly. There is a natural squirm created. If it was the bounce causing an issue it would be more of a cupping at about 4-6” intervals around the tire. Essentially, the center three ribs are carrying all the load (and wearing evenly) and the shoulder ribs are trying to keep up.

I reviewed your weight versus the table again. You are safe as low as 65 psi when carrying 12,300 lbs. I would recommend you lower you pressures to 70 psi. It is difficult to overcome or correct this wear pattern but, you may be able to slow the process by getting the footprint flat on the road. It may also help with the “bouncing” you described in rougher road conditions. There is no cause for concern with this wear pattern. Just keep an eye on it. I’m not sure it will help but you could try rotating from one side to the other.”

Dskyward - If you recall from your original set of posts last year, I noted that I had the identical issue with my Sailun tires. I had run my tires for 15K miles at 105 psi. After your series of posts I lowered the tire pressure to 85 psi and have put an additional 13K on them. I am now seeing the wavy wear pattern on the rear tires identical to what you posted. The wear pattern on each side of the tires seems to have also expanded inward slightly. It's curious that not everyone is seeing this type of wear pattern. What are the date stamps on your tires?

But only when on 50A, right?

If I recall correctly, you were also successfully able to run 2 of them on 30A. Interesting, because this weekend, I was able to run 2 only for a very short time before the 30A shore CB tripped. My EMS was showing 15A on one leg, 12 on the other, so something must've cycled, taking both legs collectively over the 30A threshold. I know on 50A, you have two 50A 120V legs, but on 30A, via an adapter, you have a single 30A 120V that splits and is shared amongst both legs in the camper.

Have you ever had the 30A breaker trip when you were running both of your original A/C's?

Hi Schooner, wow, that’s a lot of miles. I think you are in the far lead here with that many miles on your set of Sailuns. So after 15K at 105 psi, you saw no ‘river’, but only shoulder cove? That’s very interesting. My picture was the driver front. Very clearly pronounced.

My tire date stamp is 3716, or mid Sept 2016. Install date was 2/16/17.

Here are the two pics I took when new. You may barely make out the stamp at 1024x768 max allowed here.

Possibly the res fridge entered defrost mode? I’ve read anytime between 6-96 hrs it can enter defrost mode and chew up 40 amps for 20 min. This can sometimes be the reason you enter the camper after a long haul and the inverter reads low voltage.

First mod to the new trailer - switched the pinbox to a goosebox. Also, added a Pinnacle washer/dryer combo and had it vented (now need to figure out why it is not drying anything ).

Looks so nice. Your new truck have a bed cam? I’d like to try one of those someday to get my bed space back, from a 285 lb BW Comp slider, but flip side of coin I’ve got a short box, w/limited turn angle (45deg) and hitching then gets challenging with my 07. Just need a bed camera to fix that.

Hi, Guys! I know that I haven't been around much lately, but today I became a dues paying member of the China Bomb Club today, when we discovered this on one of our 5'er tires (that had less than 3500 miles on them). We were about 70 miles out from home, when I noticed that this tire was running about 6psi lower than every other tire, but since it was holding pressure, I just continued. Made it into my driveway and discovered this baseball size tumor. Now I'm comparing the Endurance, Marathon, Sailun, and a few others on-line, to try to figure out which tire we are switching to.....

Any suggestions?

Mods to 377 RLBH?

You know what Tom’s gonna say, put the Sailuns on and your good to go. He’s the 377 King. Best tire insurance on these heavy 5ers for the money. About $150 or so each. I’ve got them too and I’m still happy with them after 15K miles. I still have to figure out the right pressure, if you’ve read my recent tire wear posts.
