Just removed my forward bath and bedroom vents. I have a pretty wide gap and the black ring sticks up 1/4 to 3/8 inch. Taping was a pain to do. When I do all the rest I am gonna use non expanding spray foam. That will seal good and never come loose and be way faster. I discovered that loose divider problem about six months ago and posted that and brought it to Jayco's attention. They actually e mailed me several weeks later saying they found several like that on the line and fixed the problem. When the factory redoes my roof in Oct I will ensure they tape the divider when they pull the main unit.

I removed and taped 7 of 9 vents today. Did not attempt bunk and loft yet. I see where the tape COULD come off after time. I also scribed and cut the 5/8" of the rings. Scribing was made an easy by using a big enough hose clamp around ring and tightening at 5/8" and using it as a guide. Question: Would it be good insurance to install the modified rings as well as the tape?

I like your idea Rock. I will use it should the tape solution fail. Since the rings were already cut, I reinstalled them.

Thanks for the AC trick

Men,

I did the mods with the vents ( still need to bring the ladder to do the 2 higher one in the kitchen)

But men... now the AC actually cool the trailer ( and we just have one AC on ours).

Quick question... I also sealed and mods the one that goes to the office but now that air finally goes trough that one I can fell some condensation on the aluminum tube going trough the loft bedroom.

Did any of you made some change like using an insulated duck for that 3 feet...

Thierry

Hi tiju, even though I removed the whole duct to take outside to trim the top metal ring down about .5", I reused the the aluminum duct hose. I had to cut it off the bunkhouse vent, and still had 3-4" left over. I too felt some condensation up there in the loft as ac was running, but I did not see any problem to the point of it dripping down to ruin anything.

An uninsulated duck is a sad thing.
Insulate your ducks!

Back in Junction on the return trip home. Outside is 97, inside trailer is 88. Not much shade to speak of and we only have 30 amp. Will report our temps/AC performance in a couple of hours.

Back from dinner. Outside is 92, inside feels comfortable at 82. Last year it took 6-7 hours for it to get comfortable inside. I'd say it's definitely a worthwhile mod!

No offense to anyone that loves the area, but the bums peeing, pooping, masterbating, and panhandling on the city streets was not my cup of tea!

The only people that should be offended are those who poop, pee, masturbate or panhandle in San Francisco. I don't think any of those types are on this forum. If they are, I need to find a new forum[emoji3]

Honestly, what offended me the most is that it was legal and considered a "normal" everyday occurrence. NOT HERE IN TX!

Not at all. We wouldn't put up with that nonsense. One of many reasons why I will never live anywhere other than Texas [emoji3]

My update on vent mod since we are at Emerald Isle Beach, NC for a few days. Not as hot as it has been (mid, upper 80's) but I can definitely tell you the rig cools quicker and does not work as hard to keep it cool.

Now if I can just catch a few dozen blue crabs with my traps for a low country boil the weekend will be a total success.
