MORryde Orbital Pin Box

Is anyone using the “Orbital” mode of the MORryde Orbital Pin Box by locking the king pin at the hitch and swiveling at the 5th wheel side mount point? How’s it working?

Yep, I put it there

Looking for some real world experience. I’m assuming it’s just like a Reese Revolution.

Looks like a clone with the Mor/Ryde rubber bumper up front. I don't think it can be used any other way than the hitch pin locked in place.

It is just like the Revolution but with the Mor/Ryde rubber bumpers. We don’t use it as a Revolution though so can’t help you there.

I have a very similar truck. With the short bed, if you are not using the Orbital feature, do you use a slider or are you just careful with your sharp turns?

I have an Andersen rail mount hitch. I’ve only pulled once bringing it home from the dealer and haven’t come close to hitting anything.

I have the same setup as bluie5, AUH Rail Mount / short bed / Orbital locked which is done at the factory. No issues with turning radius...I can probably get to 90 degrees if I tried, but I would prefer not to put stress on the tires. I have 1000 miles under my belt without any issues. It tows as smooth as a baby's bottom!

I am using the MORryde Orbital hitch on my 2018 28.5 RSTS. I have a Pro Series 20K hitch in my 2017 F250 short bed. The hitch is not a slider hitch. I used the supplied wedge, installed it as the instructions stated, and all works like a charm. Its amazing what that extra 25 inches or so does to not only cab clearance in tight turns, but also in backing. If you're used to backing a TT the pivot being closer to the tailgate makes baking a lot easier and more familiar.

That's great feedback, thanks. I'm about 3.5 weeks into my 8-12 week wait for my 30.5MBOK. My plan is to use it as you described with a 16k Reese non-slider hitch in my short bed.

My 30.5 mbok should be here any day. I too ordered the orbital after suggested by my dealer. He saw the demo at the Jayco factory.

What was your order date? Do you know if you are getting a 2019?

Nevermind, I found your order date by searching your previous posts. So about 8 weeks for you it looks like.

The complete date was April 18. My dealer is waiting for message to ship. He did verify last week that it was 2018 and I got what ordered.

In this photo it appears that your truck is sagging?

I am considering air bags to level the truck out and drop the height on my AUH ball to keep my trailer level. I’m also considering upgrading to an F-350 diesel.

I would do something. Looks like your headlights are aimed at the tree tops. Timbrens, Super Springs or air bags would greatly help if you dont upgrade trucks.

Is the Orbital the same as a Sidewinder?

This winter I was using a SB instead of the LB I used the past two winters. No issues with cab clearance and if it came close I just re-positioned when backing in. Box side clearance was closer and a couple of times I touched the stacked Trifecta tonno.

I picked up my trailer today. After driving 8 miles to my storage location I’m convinced I made right decision of upgrading to the orbital hitch. Rides great. Comfortable when making turns at intersections. And backs like a bumper pull.

MOR/Ryde just issued a recall on the 16k orbital pin box, indicating that the bearing at the pivot point could fail resulting in the pin box locking at 180 degrees. The solution is to bolt your pin box in like a traditional pin and remove the MOR/Ryde wedge. They have a “fix” but it has to go back to the dealer.
