New 357MDOK Owner, Slide Out Questions

Hello everyone....we just picked up our new 2021 Eagle 357MDOK a couple weeks ago. We can’t wait to start using it although it’s winter here in Michigan therefore I’m stuck looking at it in my driveway. So to pass the time I’ve been looking over things and trying to get familiar with the new rig. Upon some looking yesterday I noticed that on my kitchen slide, the bulb seal running along the top of the slide does not come all the way to on the corner. I would prefer it did, but not sure how critical it really is when the slide is closed. Also, when this slide is closed, this top bulb seal barely touches the side wall. I’m used to the slides compressing the seals all the way around. This is a cable driven slide, is there a way to adjust it so it pulls it in tighter? Thanks for any comments or suggestions! What, Jayco changed to a cable slide this year. Interesting move and I would not have expected it. I have 19 and it is a combination of schwintek and the older screw drive slides.

As for the gap, check the opposite side and see if it moved over. I have had to adjust mine a few times.

Cannot help with adjusting close distance.

I would say and correct me if I’m wrong but with that open gap you’re go to get water leaking thru that corner and down the inside wall to a bare edge corner and rot out your sub flooring.

The seal needs to mate up to the vertical seal to eliminate any water from entering. Check to see if the seal has shifted to the rear. If it did you can pull it back and put a little sealant on it to hold it in place. As for cable slides, be careful with them. I had an open range that had cable sides and had nothing but trouble with them. Watch some Utube videos on how to operate them and keep the cables adjusted properly. Open Range was famous for gear box failures on the cable slides. May be another Thor cost saving measure as they now own both companies.

IMO when the slide is closed the slide trim bulb seal and exterior wall bulb seals are the first line of defense, followed by the wiper seals.

I tend to agree that the bulb seals should experience some degree of compression to be effective.

This is the spot you need to be concerned about now. This will be your water entry point because that gasket does not seal tight. The cable entry opening would also be a concern of mine.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments. Sounds like a trip back to the dealer may be in order. It's been frigid here lately in Michigan so I haven't opened the trailer up since originally posting this, but it's warming up a bit so I'll open that slide soon and check to see if that seal has shifted to the other end or not.

I have the same fifth wheel, 2021 357MDOK. I live in South Texas so here are some pictures of our slide for your comparison. If you need any other photos or info just let me know. We are having a few strange issues with ours and I completed some mods to quiet the water pump under the kitchen sink etc..

I intend to post the below with more details but wanted to be sure you are aware if you haven't checked this out and end up back at the dealer.

BTW - If you have the LCI 6 point electric ground control 3.0 leveling system be sure to try out auto level. Mine doesn't work and the dealer is sitting on 5 other Jayco's with the same setup and issue. I took delivery anyway because we live in our rig. It's been 2 weeks no resolution.

Thanks for sharing pics of your slide for me. As for my battery bank, I was actually surprised to see two batteries when I went to pick up the unit...despite the sales man telling me only one battery came with it. They however did not have the second one strapped down...I had them add that before I left with it. This is still how the dealer had them installed...I plan to tidy up the wires and add a true battery cutoff switch in the future.

Thank you for posting the picture. I'm just gathering up a sampling of how it's being wired up at different dealers.

Looks like my dealer installed both batteries but the positive to positive connections were double jumped. One jumper from post to post and then again on the battery breaker.

The long thick red one is from positive post on battery A to the battery breaker. The thin red one is from the positive post on battery A to the positive post on battery B. Then the thick black one is from positive post on battery B to the battery breaker.
