New Batteries for Jayco 377RLBH

I think my batteries are starting to go and want to replace them with sealed batteries so I don't have to add water. I store it plugged in for 7 months of the year and its also plugged in for the 5 months that I am using it.

Looking for any recommendations.

thanks

Before you toss the old batteries I would make sure they were charged and tested fully. They may not be bad but your house system could be the problem.

During long storage you may also want to consider using a battery tender to keep them up without over charging and damage by boiling them dry.

Lots of posts you can read for hours using the search function above.

I have a Duracell AGM size 31 that I got from Sam's club. It completed its 4th season last year and is still going strong. When I first installed it, it seemed like it had WAY .ore power than the new Interstate battery that was in it. I checked the manufacture date on the interstate and made sure it was always charged too.

With yours being plugged into shore power so much, it wouldnt be a bad idea to turn the battery disconnect to off, if you have one. If not, I'd install one. This way the charging system can't boil the charge out of it.

Late model converter chargers do not over charge nor boil the batteries. So that's old school stuff. No need to unplug or anything. Leave it plugged it and forget it. Unless you have flooded batteries, then check the water every couple months or so.
I you go with AGM, make sure your converter charger is compatible or can be made compatible.

Mine is plugged into shore power 24/7 since April, 2018 except when going down the road and I've never had problems with boil over or over charging.

I had a 2015 Forest River Sierra that half ruined the brand new Interstate battery that was in it. I replaced it with the AGM that I have now. When the AGM was at full charge on my charger on my bench, I'd put it in the Sierra and it was always trying to charge it. Just like the acid Interstate battery that was in it. I ended up installing a disconnect switch to keep it from hurting the battery.

Looking back on it there was probably something wrong with the charger, like everything else with that trailer. It was a Forest River, a POS. I ended up brooming it a short time later because it was constantly having issues, some major. Enough was enough and it was time to step up to a much better quality Jayco built unit.

Battery disconnect is a bad idea in my 377rlbh when plugged into shore power. It causes many 12v things to not work... battery disconnect should only be used when in storage with NO power wanted....
