Engine oil is Amsoil and has been in there since 10/19 and it has about 2500 miles on it. I have a dual oil filter remote bypass system installed which helps filter the soot out of the oil much better than a single factory filter. I'll probably pull an oil sample shortly and send it in for analysis.
Only real issue I've had with the truck is the display touch screen went out, but it was only the touch part of the screen, the rest of it visually was fine. It was out of warranty and I contacted GM and my dealer and they both stepped up and took care of me. I know the screen issue didnt have anything to do with how little its driven, but because of how little its driven, that had some weight in getting it covered.
That's pretty dang good! It's good they took care of you with the touchscreen, too. Those are the types of things that make repeat customers for dealers. Sadly, not all are like that.

If when you purchase any brand of DEF, and open the box, un-screw the top and find the cellophane is missing and continue to use the product, then who is wrong ???? Peak DEF from my local auto parts store is what I have always used for no more reason than the convenience of the store location. It may seem careless, but I never gave any other matters much thought. No issues to date. Maybe I'm clueless or blissful. Who knows. Happy Travels. SKIDAWG

This turned into quite the topic! lol

I went to Walmart (hate that place) looked all over, but they were out ?!? Couldn't find anyone to help me. I went to Autozone ($14), there is a code on the box, but I can't tell what that meant, and the person behind the counter was not aware of a expiration date, but claimed they sell a lot of them. I took my chance and purchased it. I have not added it yet, but will inspect/smell it before adding it to the tank.

Thanks everyone for your input to help out this diesel newbie.

Speaking of Diesel

Not DEF related, but if you're new to diesels and towing, you'll want to check out the TDS logistics fleet fuel purchasing program. It will allow you to use the high flow pumps at participating truck stops without having to go inside to use your regular credit card, and will save you money to boot. We just took a short 850 mile round trip to Tampa to trade in our old rig for a new North Point, it saved us about $50 over the regular truck stop prices, and no sweating over whether you can get your truck and trailer into a regular gas station for diesel.
The only downside is that you have to link it to a checking account, where they withdraw funds to avoid the merchant fees from Visa, etc.

Tells you something when Walmart is out of Blue DEF. They sell a ton of the Blue DEF. Flys of the shelf.

My truck doesn't know what DEF is either. Ok with me.

Aside from DEF, keep your fuel filters and water separators changed often. Clean fuel is the backbone of a long healthy life of a diesel. Especially today's engines.

I topped off the tank at a Pacific pride. Made it about 30 miles and got a CEL. Truck went into limp mode. Turns out it was bad def. Had to buy a new tank heater and a few other parts. Long story short, truck was in the shop for a day, coat me $1k to repair and had a day of down time. Buy the box def. No issues there. Dealer wouldn't warranty it. Gas station denied claim. I spent $1k to learn a lesson. Six months later same problem in another dodge.

If you are going to travel a lot. Get a fuel savings card. Use the trucker pumps where DEF is readily available. Much easier than trying to buy it over the counter.

Def Brands

I have used the Walmart Brand since it came out on both my 2019 Diesel Equinox and my 2018 GMC Denali without any problems, so far. Also used it in my 2011 Silverado Chev when I had it.

If I’m not towing, DEF will last a while. But, pulling our fifth wheel does cause it to be used up more quickly. I buy mine at a busy truck stop near where we live and have never had an issue. So easy and saves a little $$ too.

This has been my experience as well. No issues using SuperTech. DEF is basically generic water and urea Just make sure it meets the national standard and try to not have it more than one year old.

Just my $.02

Use to get DEF at my local TS, for my work truck (technically Yard Goat) every time the truck would try to stall out and the regen light would stay on. Started using Walmart's Super-Tech brand and no problems since. (About 4 months now) my truck runs 24 hours a day and 6 days a week, hauling up 40k lbs.

I know not quite the same thing but just the same, gives you a comparison.
