New guy wantin some advice.
My wife and two children spend most of the year on the road with my job. We are in a Palamino TT right now but it's not holding up to the hard life of full time RVing. We have decided to get the Jayco 377rlbh. It's a very popular unit now and I believe it has the best floor plan/construction of any 5er out there right now.
My question is this. When we spec one out. What options are popular and should I prep it for a generator for an extra 1k?
Thanks for your insights.

If you plan on dry camping, then get the generator prep. I did not get that option on my 377.
We have the residential fridge, heat pump, outside TV, cord reel, extra A/C, 2nd awning, exterior grill (I would forego the grill, but ours already had it)...that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll be headed to storage in about an hour or 2 to hook up and do our 1st trip.

I just got one recently as well. Ours has the residential fridge, convection micro, heat pump, second AC, second awning, slide toppers, cord reel.
Love this camper! You will too

Nice! We were looking at slide toppers. Do they help with longevity of the slides? Or is it more for weather proofing?

They keep the leaves and debris off the slides. Really they're to keep slides and slide seals clean so I suppose they could aid in extending the life of the slides

We're getting toppers primarily for keeping the debris off the top of the slide (got REALLY loaded up at a couple of sites) and to keep the top of the slide out of the direct sunlight (felt a lot of heat on the inside on several occasions; little insulation there as compared to the main roof).

Since you seem to be living in this unit for extended periods of time I would go all out.
Must haves IMHO:
Slide toppers
2nd AC
cord reel
Convection Micro
Heat Pump (saves propane)
Residential Fridge
2nd battery (2 x 6V right out of the gate)
Mor Ryde Pin
2nd power awning if available for your model
Strong considerations:
Thermo pane windows
Ground Control
Bypass:
Grill (you get the quick connect regardless)
I did the must haves when we ordered our current unit and wish I could fit another awning. That is the one thing I currently desire on my unit. I did not do the genny prep as I had a portable one we use the few times we dry camp. If you are going to dry camp a lot then just get the genny option. If always full hookup then I would skip and save the space for storage.

IMHO the cord real is a waste of money and a big waste of usable space.
Just coil the cord up on the ground and toss it on the basement floor where the cord reel would be.
They charge a lot for the outside TV. IF you're handy you can get the mount from MorRyde and buy a cheaper, better tv and mount it yourself.
I don't know how your are going to camp, but maybe think about 4 6v batteries and solar. If you are ever without power and don't want to listen to a generator.

Are the batteries an option? I don't mind installing them myself but wondering if I can order the unit with them. What is ground control?

Ground Control 3.0 is the electric levelling system. It's a standard, not an option.
The batteries are not supplied by Jayco. If you were going the 6v route then shop around....see if your dealer will give you a deal since the dealer has to put minimum 1 12v in for PDI.
Seems like some other 377 owners on this forum got 2 12v with thier unit.
One 12v with the residential fridge isn't gonna cut it though unless you are soon to plug into shore power.

If you are thinking about solar, I read here that someone asked Jayco to install their solar at the factory and they did. Depending on price, that might be a good way to go.

I got $ from the 12V battery put towards 2 x 6v to offset the total cost rather than drive off and donate the battery for the core charge. It came out about the same and I got a good set of Interstates. With an Residential Fridge option Jayco may be going to 2 x 12V as stock. Mine only came with one 12V and the shelf had to be adjusted to accommodate the added height of my 6V's.
I've had 2 units with 50A cords and having the Mor Store box is a great option. Yes it takes up a little space, but by the time you hang the cord on the wall or put it in a bin it's the same thing. Rolling a cold 50A cord is also a challenge and the crank blows right through it. 30 seconds to wind it up and run a rag over it while cranking to keep it clean. Also an 18 gallon tote fits between it and the wall in my unit.
Ground control is as mentioned above a self leveling feature.
Just my 2 cents.

I grunted my cord out and in for about a year then bought and installed a manual reel. I can't say if I'd get one for 30A but for me I wouldn't be without it for 50A.

I know it's just what you load and carry, but for me I would have nowhere for the Webber and I find no trouble lifting a 30' cable.
I think I would have a harder time humped over cranking a handle while guiding a cord in. I can feel it in my back already.

I just went to a camping world and narrowly left with my sanity. They wanted to give me a 377 for 80k. I went the rounds with the sales staff since I've seen them on rv trader for much less, even ones advertised by camping world! The purchasING process is so frustrating!

I don't think I would get another unit without the dual pane windows. Helps with insulation and soundproofing!!

80k is way to much! We just ordered ours for 62k pretty well loaded up. Second A/C, residential fridge, etc...

Hey somebody is going to bite, just don't be that fish! Way too high IMHO. Get a quote from RV direct to give yourself a baseline. It's a wholesale price, but one that comes with no strings and you can get it from the comfort of your favorite chair.
I would say that unit in the mid 50's is a real steal and it depends on options you load into it. I purchased 35% off MSRP when I bought in 2013.
