New Jayco Owner - 29.5BHDS 5th wheel

Just picked up a brand new 2016 29.5 BHDS 5th wheeler yesterday! Just switched over from a travel trailer and can't believe how easy they are to tow and I am getting 2 mpg better! At least on the way home from Dealership. Is there anything that I need to be aware of on this Jayco Model / items to check? What type of TV mount should I use in the front bedroom and who has a suggestion on rear bike racks (4place) now that I cant use my box?

Congrats and welcome from Colorado

Jayco makes a rear slide out tray / bike rack that is awesome for carrying bikes and other stuuf, or, slides away when not needed.

Welcome to JOF and congrats on your new trailer! There are a lot of 29.5 owners on this site and you'll get plenty of knowledge, along with us learning from your experience!

Regarding the TV for the BR, I would suggest you take your time and use the trailer a few times first. There are many of us who thought we needed one, but then realized we didn't. Regarding the bike rack, the platform kind is best--we already lost two bikes using the suspension style rack. And, don't recommend it. Post some pics of your rig on this site and the 5th Wheel Facebook page when you have a chance.

Where would one look for additional information on the tray you speak of?

Congratulations!

Be careful with the bike rack you buy as many of the popular brands won't hold up to the beating they take on the back of a rig. I've done a bit to research on them and am leaning towards the Swagman XTC4

As far as BR TV, I agree with tularockstar, be sure you need it before installing. That said, we went with a Samsung and have been happy with it. When mounting, double check that the backing for the mount is really where the sticker says it is - it's been off on both of our units so far

Start with your dealer, then ask Jayco directly. My 2013 eagle has the rack and it is handy. I've put kayaks, bikes or my generator and gas can on it.

I've been eyeing that one as well, but haven't found anyone that has used it. All I seem to find are "get a Swagman" or "Swagman are the best" without mention of model. I'd be curious to hear what you've found in your research.

I just ordered the Swagman Traveler XC2-RV 2. It came last night. So I will be putting it together tonight & using it over the Memorial Day weekend. I only have the 2 full-size adult mountain bikes for the wife & I, so I only needed the 2-bike model. But I went with this one because its RV rated and the full 2" mounting brace. I don't like many of the other brands that use 1 1/4" brace and give you a 2" sleeve to fit our receivers.

Ditto on the Swagman. Haven't tried it yet but it is built really solid and I like how it holds the bikes. I'll still throw a strap on them though.

As for the TV, check out my mods page, just installed one the other day.
