New Jayco owner

Hi, I recently purchased a 2011 Jayco Pinnacle 5th wheel. I have had pull trailers before ,recently a 30ft Avion. I am picking up my trailer in New York and I live in Rhode Island so it will be about a 3 hour ride. I have a Ford F350 duelly diesel to pull it so I should be ok there. My question is this... before I drive it home I want to attach a rear camera. I have purchased a Haloview camera and plan to install it at the dealership before I head out. I have the monitor hooked up in the truck but need to install the camera there. I dont really want to mount on the roof. I would rather install on the back right below the 3 marker lights.
Has anyone else done this? I am just wondering what kind of framework may behind the cap in that area. Obviously I dont want to drill a hole only to find a beam behind it. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Just pull the marker light...you’ll need to anyways so you can tie into power. After you pull the light you’ll have a better idea what you’re dealing with and then things should go smoothly. Congrats on the new to you 5er!

Congratulations and welcome!

As Bookemdanno recommends, pull the center marker light to see what's back there. Don't necessarily agree it's the right thing to, but I've also seen instances where folks simply replaced the marker light with the camera to avoid having to put another hole in their rig.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Jayco purchase! My rear camera is mounted on the back wall below the middle marker light. Mine was done by the dealership. You might also call Jayco support with the VIN number to get more information on that specific model. They will probably have recommendations on where you should mount the camera.

rear view camera

Adding a Camera to my 2017 Jayco 23BHM.

I removed the center marker light and place my camera in its place. I know that it is a DOT violation! However, there was not enough room between the marker light and the top of my rear window for the camera bracket.

When I was looking for the pre-wire which I did not find on my trailer! I noticed that there was a wood block directly below the marker light hole so adding a hole for the camera wire was not a possibility.

Beside my wife was completely opposed to adding another hole to the trailer. So the light had to go - I'll take my changes. You would think that the tail lights and the 4 marker lights would be enough. If I get hit by another vehicle it won't be because I was missing a light!!

Happy Camping!
