Question New member - 97 Jayco eagle m263-rks

Hello everyone,
My wife are expecting our first kid and also hoping to purchase our first 5th wheel!

Looking for anyone with experience with the Jayco in the title. Going to look at it later this week, but any thoughts, recommendations, and/or experiences anyone could share would be appreciated.

Thanks again!
Matt

Welcome to the JOF. Lots of folks here with lots of Jayco knowledge and RVing knowledge.

Sounds like right now you are only interested in info on the 97 Jayco eagle m263-rks and not 5th wheels or camping or towing or ... is that right?

We have owned a '98 since new and besides some cosmetic changes they are basically the same as the '97 models. The trailer is built pretty stout but we have replaced the converter (twice), the pressure release valve in the hot water heater, and the control board in the refrigerator. Otherwise it is just basic maintenance. Full disclosure, our unit has been stored indoors since new so that cuts down on a ton wear across the board.

Hopefully that helps, and welcome to the forum!

Correct, my father in law has had many fifth wheels.. He's been happy to provide all types of advice.

But I'll welcome any. Not sure what brake controller to buy for example.

My first question will be if it was stored in or outside. Good tips and thanks!

Welcome to JOF! You've come to the right place. What will you be pulling with and do you have an idea of the 5th's weight, even dry weights can get you started. Did I mention you've come to the right place?

Thanks redhorse1!

The dealer says that it's 7,175lbs while nada states 6,740lbs.

I'm anxious to get started!
