New Norcold fridge issue

2018 Jayco eagle ht 28.5 rsts – been out on 2 trips, one just 2 days the other 4 days but the RV setup end between those weekends plugged up. This is my 3rd Jayco and usually wait and make a list of warranty things that are not a big deal or I can fix easily. I have a Norcold fridge I believe its n81.. Freezer gets about 25 degrees and the fridge barley gets under 55 on the coldest setting.. I have googled anything and everything .. Any suggestions? We have 2 other trips planned and it’s just us two so I can do without it until I can get it in for warranty work.

Only thing I can suggest is to jumper the fan control switch (found on the upper coil) and see if it helps.

I noticed your trips were short ones. How many days before the trip did you turn on the fridge?

Ours will take at least a full day to cool down with nothing inside. If you load it up and turn it on it will take days to cool down, especially if you put a bunch of room temp sodas/beer in there.

Best is to turn on the fridge and let it cool for at least a day before adding any food. Whatever food you do add, make sure it is already cold. It takes a LOT of cooling 'power' to get food/drinks from room temp down to the desired 40F.

If you did all this and it still does not get cold then you may have a defective unit.

What type of thermometers are you using? Have you tried placing them in different locations? Is your FW level?

Vcbice has some good suggestions.

We have the same unit and our freezer averages 0 and the frig part averages 38.

If the suggestions in other posts don’t help, then by all means take it in and have it fixed under warranty. Good luck.

Yes- the RV is level and it was plugged up for 5-7 days and we couldn't get it to cool at all.. We are going this weekend be in it for 7 days. I believe I will call Norcold next week and see if their customer service can help - before I drag it back to the dealer..

What temp setting do you have it on? The higher the number the colder the fridge. You may have a bad thermistor. If you unplug the thermistor, the fridge will cool continually without a thermostat control. So it should get cold and really cold. Even freeze the fridge compartment.

I am going to try that when we get down later today. I read that on another site to unplug it- I am taking my meter also and can test ohms.. Would I be so lucky - I hope so!
