Glad things worked out for you the way they did. Yes $2k hurts, but the safety of your family is worth a whole lot more than that - I'd have done the same thing.

One lesson learned when ordering is that if ordering a 250, the "10,000GVWR package" will increase the payload (seemingly obvious). But when ordering the 350, selecting the "10,000GVWR package" will restrict the payload (not obvious). I wanted to see proof of my payload capacity on the 350 vs the 250, and it was coming out roughly the same (3200-3400-ish). It took a while for them to figure out that we needed to delete the 10k option from the 350, and then the payload shot up to 4,000+.
Regarding the 30.5 MBOK: It's scheduled for delivery the first week of August. I will start a thread about it when we get it. It's our first RV, and there's been little said about it online. We wanted a mid-bunk, rear living plan which drove us to either the Eagle 355 or NP 377, and then noticed they snuck this HT mid-bunk floorplan into their lineup late last Fall, which was a surprise. We walked through one at a local Camping World. The experience was awful (Camping World), but the 30.5 was great. So we recalibrated back to the HT, which is really all we need. We're excited...

You just stumbled on why many of us say the f250 and f350 are the same truck with different badging and GVWR. It is simply done for registration purposes.

They are not the same at least with Ram and Chevy as the 1 tons have heavier leaf springs. I thought Ford was the same but could be wrong.

But that is the "only" difference for Chev/GMC everything "except" the rear spring pack is identical for 2500/3500.

My understanding from everything I've pieced together from this and some truck forums: the Dodge rear suspension is the only difference between a 3/4 and one ton. A Ford 250 with a camper package is equal or darn near equal to a 350, but the payload capacity won't increase to reflect it. Some Ford 350s have 4" blocks vs 2" blocks on 250s, but not always. On the Ford forums this seemed to be very inconsistent and random.

On Ram the 2500 has coil springs and 3500 leaf. My buddy has Chevy 3500 and says his has an extra leaf spring vs 2500.
For the ~$600 difference it just makes sense for going with 3500 when pulling campers. With the weight of deisels and the 10K GVWC of 2500's you gain about 2000 lbs. of cargo capacity with the 3500 SRW.

If you ever pull with a dually, you'll never want to pull with anything else.

New Ram has no shoulder harness in jump seat
Regarding the Dually...maybe true, but as a homeschooling airline pilot, a Dually does not fit my needs. I need something flexible enough to drive in congested areas for field trips with the kids and easy enough for my wife to drive when I head off to work for days at a time. I got an HT so I wouldn't need to get a bigger truck. A short bed SRW is perfect for us. I'm sure there will come a day when we want a Northpoint and a Dually diesel, but that would hinder us right now.

I thought I wanted a 2500 in 2012 so I traded my '03 dually for one. It was a short bed so I put a Pullrite slider in it. Thought I would just love four buying tires instead of six. Not a chance. Kept it two years and went back to a dually. Nothing like pulling with a dually.

My 03', 08' and 12' did not, my 16' has bucket seats but I'd bet they still don't, Gm is usually a step behind the others.

My '16 does not. I'd call the center seat in mine and last resort. A jump seat more than a legit seat. We've only used it on short drives camping with friends who had a class c and no toad.

I'm one who had a dually and went to a SRW. Never want another one.

I'm in your corner, had one diesel and one gasser.
An RV delivery driver said "all you're doing is wearing out 2 extra tires", but to each his own.
