New (to us) Northpoint 315RLTS

We just got the above unit and are looking forward to using it! I have had most other types of RV's but this will be the first 5th wheel. We don't have a truck to haul it yet, but that will happen sometime down the road. I have been reading this forum for a while and have gleaned some useful information, hopefully I will be able to contribute some also!

Welcome, this forum is great.
I got a 310RLTS North Point last year and really like it.
I a used 2014 3/4T Silverado diesel after buying the 5er. It seamed OK pulling but we had a DEF issue while on a trip, poor quality DEF warning that we had to get boned up on pretty quick. Long story short, we bought a new TV simply because I did not want to be in this situation again.
The newer diesels have the ability to remove the warning if a regen detects better quality DEF. The 2014 had to in to a shop and be cleaned or repaired to clear the issue.
Do take the time to check out the TV is my suggestion. I did not and paid extra for the education.

Welcome. We have really enjoyed our 315RLTS. The large coffee bar is great. Six point leveling and auto hitch height also nice. We added a washer dryer. Enjoy your new North Point.

DrSmart, I would like to get a SRW truck, and I see you have a Ram 3500 SRW. Is that working out ok for you?

MartandMillie,

We have a washer and dryer installed. We weighed at CAT scales with full fuel, and the 2 of us. The TV rear axle is rated for 7000lbs. Weight on the rear axle when hitched was 6600. TV GVWR is 11,500. Scale indicated 11,420 hitched. TV GCVWR is 24,000. Our combined was 23,280. I have moved our heavy cargo out of the front storage area to a rear cargo carrier. The Honda 2000 and Weber barbecue are there, along with all of our 2x10x10 pads. Dual rear wheels would provide safety in the event of a rear tire failure. Our tire monitors provide pressure and temperature and we keep the TV rear tires close to max cold inflation for max capacity. This would let us know if we have a leak as well. Low pressure can cause a blow out. Our TV is equipped with Michelin Defenders.
We haven't had any issues and the ride is very smooth. I did add air bags to help cushion the ride. We aren't planning to go DRW.

Since this unit is three years old, and I am new to the preventative maintenance involved with a 5th wheel, should I reseal the roof, say with eterna-bond tape or a self-leveling caulk, just to avoid any water intrusion issues?

Good idea to reseal around vents and anywhere manufacture used caulking. Look for obvious cracks or missing sealant. I would just use self levelling Dicor. I tried Eternabond on a previous trailer. I removed as much caulking as possible, cleaned the surface and applied the Eternabond. Excellent product. If you haven't worked with it, be aware it's not made to remove easily. Just sayin, position it carefully before applying.

I will start with the Dicor -

I also purchased a North Point for my first 5th wheel ever. Have had for about a year. If I had to do it again, I would have gone with slightly used instead of new.

I use a 2018 Ram 3500 and had no problems with the truck pulling or stability. Fuel mileage is averaging 10.3 miles per gallon when towing and about 21 when not towing.

Prior to the 5th wheel always had a class A. Definitely two different Rv lifestyles.

Since my purchase last year, I’ve had the roof inspected 4 times, and every time they have found cracks and gaps that need resealed. Especially in the 4 corners.
