New tow truck

Question please. We have a 2018 north point, if we buy a 2020 f-350 4x4 srw while the 20” wheel option make the truck too tall ???

Thank you

What is your current TV?? Are the 5vers springs in the lowest shackle position? If not you could raise the TT a bit more. If so, you can change out the center equalizer to a different design to add some additional height. A larger wheel diameter on the 5ver can be installed. As you can see there are a number of adjustments that can be done.

Rv is very tall now. I just don’t want my 5er to hit the bed sides. I do understand that ford lowered the trucks for 2020. But several new trucks we’ve looked at has the upgraded 20” wheels. We just need to know if that will cause the truck to be too tall, if so we will pass those by.

I know my truck is 2014, and the trailer is a 2019, but, we have no issues with height.

I see F350 pulling large fifth wheels with no issues.

A North Point is going to have close to a 2000 pound tongue weight which will lower your bed rails due to the weight of the trailer.

The issue comes up with smaller fifth wheels like the Eagle HT series in which they put 15” tires as standard. The trailers are shorter which makes it even worse. We won’t buy one without 16” wheels and the moryde suspension on it. I have a 2018 Ram 3500 SRW 4x4 diesel with short bed and 20” wheels. I would have no worries buying a bigger fifth wheel other than the price. I am hoping our local dealer gets more Jayco HT in stock. They are selling like crazy. They sold all three floor plans we were interested in this weekend.

Nice rig Rick. What is the weight of your rv? Hitch weight? Does your truck handle it well? Any problems? Would you buy a F-350 or a f-450 if buying now? Thank you all so much for sharing, please don’t stop, we all learn so much from each other.

Ours lines up just right. I don't know if there is any height difference between your 18 NP and my 20 Pinnacle but ours sits very level. I had the original MORryde pin box removed and installed a Reese Goose Box. I did have to change out my goose neck ball from a B&W with a 2 inch rise to a Curt with a one inch rise as I was sitting nose high a little more than I like with the B&W. With the Curt I have 6 plus inches of bed clearance and the Pinnacle is level using the eye ball test.

My understanding is Ford only lowered the F250's by an inch but the F350's remain the same height as previous models. Our truck has 20 inch wheels and is a long bed. The picture is with the B&W ball and while it looks ok the shorter Curt is a better match.

Thumbs up I have 20s with no problem

My truck came with Goodyear Wrangler 20" tires, but I changed them out to a bigger (wider and taller) Michelin with no issues.
Typically the 20" tires have shorter sidewalls which compensate for the larger rims regarding overall height.

My sig pic shows pretty level and I'm very pleased with the whole rig's performance.
