Wink No family friendly 5'ers with the options

The DW and I have been thinking about the future and possibly looking at upgrading our TT to something bigger in the next year or two (gotta get a bigger TV as well). We love our Jayco 228 but as the kids get bigger we want to get a bigger trailer with more room for them and maybe even some friends that want to come along as well. Jayco has some really nice TT but their 5ers kinda seem lacking for what we want, and we are wanting a 5er. We like the layout of the 32TSBH for the back bedroom and all of the beds (two bunks and a trundle on one side and bunk with fold out bunk on the other side), the u-shaped dinette and the out door kitchen (even though it lacks the outdoor access to the bathroom). But we would like to get a 5er with a similar layout but Jayco does not seem to make one. First off a trailer that has a loft or a back bedroom should automatically get a u shaped dinette (if it can sleep more than four what's the point of a four seater dinette or a table and four chairs!). As well the outside kitchen should always be an option with any family friendly trailer, that just seems to make sense to me. But looking at what Jayco offers they dont really have what we want. They have so many family friendly 5ers that sleep more than four people and should have the extra options that people would want in a 5er. We love our Jayco and don't want to leave the brand, so heres hoping Jayco comes out with some more 5ers that meet our needs in the next year or two (hopefully Jayco is listening!).

Fully understand where you are coming from. I have seen a few “other brands” that are designed for families. The one I remember the most had two sets of bunk beds and a bedroom for the parents, and a few other items that converted to beds. I think it slept 10 or so. My wife and I look at each other and asked what kind of dual crew cab truck hauls that family.

Maybe in 10 years or more, I would like to consider a 5er with a 14’ toy hauler section, but I have not seen one that I even remotely like.

Best of Luck!

We have the 365BHS 5er and it's great for packing people in. We opted for not getting the dinette and went with the table and chairs. Currently we can sleep up to 8, but could have done 10 if we stayed with the dinette. Now, it doesn't have the outdoor kitchen, but for us most of our cooking is done on the pit at evening times, and usually sandwiches or something light for lunch.

I am very happy with mine about packing people in and a u shaped dinette. I have bunk beds in back, a loft above that, pull out sofa with air mattress and the dinette will sleep 2 kids. I did wish I had an outdoor kitchen though, but overall I love my set up. Good luck with your search

It looks as though getting the space and design you want may mean moving to a toy hauler 5er. The Jayco Seismic 3712 is quite a unit. Here's a link to the floorplans.

Check out the NEW Jayco 5er. The 375BHFS is replacing the 365BHS.

It has an OUTSIDE KITCHEN, 5 slides, 2 bathrooms, 4 TV's, 2 recliners, island in the kitchen,....etc. Sorry, no U shaped dinette, but man is it nice!

That new 5er is pretty slick. Ry-guy, did you look at the BHLT? U-Shaped dinette, loft, bunks, outside "mini" kitchen. Mini, meaning it has the stove, water faucet and portable sink (no drain), no outside fridge but the mini kitchen takes almost 0 interior space either. I have an electric cooler which gets used in place of the outside fridge, but I will admit the outside fridge does sound nice.

We are very seriously considering trading our 2012 365BHS for the 2014 375BHFS. Looks to have everything included that we don't care for with our current floor plan. Just have to see if we can make the $$$ numbers work for us...

We have the Seismic 3914. Sleeps 10. U shaped kitchen table. Double door refrigerator. The garage is a blank canvas to be converted to whatever use you can think of for any given trip. It gives you a rear "porch" off the garage if you want to stay out of the grass (or mud like we had with a week of rain). We set up tables in the garage area (with the bunks raised to the ceiling) for parties with friends and neighbors. If you have the tow vehicle go for the toy hauler. Unlimited potential.

Good Luck!
Ken

Gibby,

I wish you never posted that link to the 2014 375 BHFS. The DW was sitting beside me when I was looking at the pics, and, well, let's just leave it at our new unit is suppose to come offline either August 6 or August 8. 2 problems is I really need to sell our 2012 365BHS within the next 3 weeks, and although my 3/4 ton Chevy Duramax towed our 365 without a problem, this new unit is a little longer and a little heavier. According to my calculations, I should be right at 1995lbs below my max weight. Going to be about a 10 hour pull from the dealer to our lot, so I'll take it easy and should be ok.

If we had the TOW Vehicle... our TT wants to be the 375BHFS when it grows up LOL

Seriously, we would love to have this 5'er if we could upgrade the TT

As a reminder, we have the 375 BHFS's lil brother (a 365BHS) currently listed in the For Sale section if anyone is interested. We would even be willing to come down a little more on the price just to sell the camper...

Thanks for the replies. We have looked at the 365BHS but the loft does not work for us. As well we really want a full size outdoor kitchen. We just got back from the dealer to look at the 375BHFS!!! What a monster!!! But it most certainly hits everything on our want list other than the u shaped dinette (no clue as to why a trailer geared towards a family would have seating at the dinner table for only four people, some people have more than two kids). But I think we can over look the u shaped dinette considering everything else you get! The DW really loves the unit. Only problem is we gotta go buy a BIG truck to haul it and buy a trailer that costs twice as much as the first one that we have now. Maybe one day we can make it work. It is nice to see Jayco pull this one out. I was starting to think I might have to look at another manufacturer. We will see what the future has in store for us over the next year. Maybe Santa might drop one off this Christmas seeing that I have been such a good boy!

This 375 is a beautiful unit. The only thing that is on the downside is the Length of 43.5 feet. The weight is probably manageable because you will probably never have 3200 lbs loaded in the trailer.

This will be a true test for the duramax if go that route.

The Duramax would have no problem with this trailer.
