Norcold 1210 refrigerator not cooling

Hi all,

Well after three years with no issues Iím suddenly having a problem with my Norcold 1210 refrigerator in my 2017 377, itís not cooling. Doesnít go below 28 in the freezer and 47 in the fridge. Same result on gas or electric. Iíve got extra fans outside so itís not a venting issue, Iíve checked all that. Iíve also got a small fan inside the fridge to keep air moving around. Iíve also eliminated the thermistor as an issue as well. Iím not getting any codes and the refrigerator is not beeping to indicate any kind of issue.

Any other quick items I can check before I decide to roll this thing into the dealer and not have it for two months?

Thanks

Unplug the thermistor. That will put the fridge full on and if it gets cold, replace the thermistor. If it doesn't get any colder, your cooling unit maybe shot. Thermistor should be part of the light harness on that model.
I assume you checked the temp setting and tried adjusting that? I think mine is on 6.

We had issues & this is the 3rd camping season we have owned the camper. We were told if the camper is sitting for a long time what happens is the ammonia in the tubes in the back of the refrigerator get clogged & don't cool the refrigerator. So when we pulled it home from our lake lot this year the refrigerator worked again. Was just wondering if maybe there is another way to fix it rather than driving it 70 miles back home.

If nothing else works, an old trick is to "burp" the fridge. It does require removing the unit but it's worth a try.

So how often would we have to do this? Sounds to me like a drive down the road would be easier.

Burp the fridge, it’s a last resort but will work if your fridge has a blockage or charge migration issue. I’ve used it a couple of times. If it is a lost charge issue your will see yellow ammonia power residue or smell ammonia

The coolant tubing visible thru the lower vent should be warm/hot to the touch. I had the same symptoms this summer and discovered my fans were dead. You report that yours are working so that’s out. Check the vents to make sure air can flow from the bottom vent and out the top. When I discovered my fans were shot I got thru the trip by sticking a small room fan in the lower vent and pointing it up.
My Norcold has a diag mode. IIRC pressing the Temp and Mode buttons simultaneously for a couple of seconds will trigger it. My unit is older (2013) so yours may be different. I found this info by searching “Norcold” and the model #.
