North Point Power Cord Length

As we 'gear up' for our incoming NP 377 I was curious about how long the 50 amp cord that comes with it is...trying to figure out if an extension cord should be on our shopping list. Any insights are greatly appreciated...thanks!

Mine is 25' and heavy I recommend you get a 30 amp (50') with a 50 to 30 amp adapter. I've been to a few camp sites where I had to use both.

I have had the same 25 ft. 30 amp cord for 4 different campers. Only need it once in a while when I just can't stretch to a working outlet. A 50 to 30 converter plug is a must have when you can't get a 30 amp site.

I also carry a 25 ft. drop cord. I use it to run a toaster at the outside table as we both love toast in the AM and it's nicer to cook it outside when we can.

I have a 50A extension cord. Used it twice already. Would of been majorly screwed without it. Better to have than not have. Can't just run out and buy a 50A RV cord just anywhere. If you do find one, it's low quality with a high quality price.

I purchased a 15 foot extension for the house due to where my plug is but haven't needed it at a camp site. I also have the 30A to 50A adapter and Progressive Industries EMS-PT50X surge protector. Not cheap but good protection.

Just picked up our 2018 North Point 315RLTS and the cord has a tag on it that states it's 36 feet long............you need a fork lift to pick it up

Get male and female 50 amp cord ends. Cut the 36 foot cable in half and put on the cord ends. You now have a 18 foot camper plug and a 18 foot entention cord. It’s easier to roll up and carry.

I camped along the Mississippi river in Iowa a couple of years ago. After backing in I couldn't see the power pole. The dear wife pointed to the six foot high power box that was some 30 feet away and shared for two lots. I told her, guess the water get pretty high here....

Not sure about you but I don't think reducing the cord to a 30amp is the correct way of doing the connection.

But 50amp is not always available at every campground (like many state parks).... Good to have the 50amp to 30amp dog bone. Some power is better than none in my book. You won't hurt anything in the camper. Worse thing that can happen is you trip the breaker which means you need to be running fewer things.

Throw in a 30amp to 15amp dog bone in case your somewhere where you need to charge your batteries, run the frige, and a few lights/tvs.

Agreed..ensure you have all options covered.
We have a 50 amp rig and have to date not needed or used the 50 amp cord. I use a 30 amp cord because its easier to handle. Mind you we only have one AC so with a bit of planning on what we are running 30 is plenty.

I really like the earlier suggestion about cutting the 50 amp cord to make 2 shorter/lighter ones. Doing that this week and then will plug into 50 when available.

So to answer your question...I would keep the stock 50 amp cord and buy a 30 ish foot 30amp cord with a couple dog bones. Gives you plenty of options.

Cheers
