North Point Rear View Camera

We are close to ordering a North Point 377RLBH.

I realize that the North Point comes prewired for a rear view camera, I believe the Furrion brand.

A camera is offered as an option on the build sheet.

If anyone ordered the camera from the factory I would appreciate knowing what Furrion Model No. is supplied.

Furrion offers a back-up only camera Model No. FRC12TA-BL which works only in reverse and a Model No. FOS48TA-BL which is both a back-up and "high speed observation" camera - which I presume means you can see behind you when driving.

If anyone could shed some light on this for me it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

We order our's to include the camera option also. Two of my questions to our salesman was: Can I use it in conjunction with my existing system on our tow vehicle? And can I use it as a stand alone cam?
His response was (keep in mind we have not taken delivery of our's yet so I cannot confirm this first hand) that the camera is mounted and wired in the rear wall of the 5er and the monitor can be mounted on the dash of your TV and viewable at all times. There is also a spot in the master bedroom for the monitor to be plugged in and viewed to act as a "security system". Personally, I am more concerned with being able to see what's behind while traveling or backing than for camping security. Either way, it sounded like a resonable upgrade. I've heard of OTR truckers using them for when people tuck in behind them and try drafting off of them.

Not sure if you've seen this but it's kind of vague.

Thanks very much for your responses. That link is for the camera model that works both backing up and while driving to see what is behind you -- what we both want to have. Do you know if Is this the camera that comes when you order the one included from the Jayco factory?

Again, many thanks.

It may be Monday before he responds... Yesterday at noon was the season opener of deer season. I'll update as it goes.

I just had a Jayco Regional Sales Manager check with the Factory and they told him the are installing a Voyager camera Model WVOS511.

Now I am confused. I will PM you the Voyager Spec Sheet. You may wish to go back to your salesman for further clarification.

Couldn't PM or attach the Spec Sheet - it is over the forum size limit. You can go to RV Cams: Backup Camera Systems (All) to see the specs.

We received our 377rlbh 3 weeks ago and it came with a model WAOM562. This camera work great as a security camera from the bedroom but you have to be moving at 25mph or slower to get one bar of reception. At highway speed all you see is static. Our dealer is telling me that this seems to be common and he is looking into a solution. I see that this isn't the model you were mentioning but it is what we got with our new RV. Does anyone else have this camera model and the reception problem I am having??

Geez... first the crappy reviews on the push button locks and now the camera is a POS too??? I'm very interested in hearing if this is a common problem. The main reason for opting for this option on ours was to help me while driving. I don't give a hoot about using it for security. Thanks for the input Kahoneys!

I received an email reply from my dealer that we purchased from. Sound like they are going to try to find a solution. Below is a copy of what the dealer wrote to me.

"That's something we haven't had an issue with yet. I did some research and it sounds like signal loss in transit has been pretty common, they also say that the signal strength is weaker with the longer campers. So what's the point in having it if it doesn't work properly is my question..... I'll see if I can get anything out of Jayco about it and let you know when I hear something. If we don't get any info, we will have to take a look at it in the spring."

I've had home cameras that are 2.4gz and have never had "good" reception over 20 feet with them. And that was with a clear line of sight and minimal electronic interference. I was giving them and technology the benefit of the doubt to have improved over the years. For $500 extra the thing better be crystal clear. The other thing that concerns me is that PYLE (brand name) make one similar to the one listed on SoCA's post (and by similar I mean it looks like they changed the name on the box...). PYLE is appropriately named because in all my years of reading about them, they are just that... a PILE of poo. I guess I'll see this spring.

I had the Furrion camera on a Starcraft TT and I now have a Voyager on my new Eagle 338rets. The Voyager is a much better camera. You should be very happy with it.

That's great to hear!!! What was disappointing about the Furrion? I was tempted to get the Furrion NV2200 head unit for our TV and tie in the rear cam to it. My local audio guy looked over their website an his initial thoughts were that they seemed low quality. I'm interested to hear more from you about it.

Mine has great reception and the trailer is 39 ft long. If you use it at highway speeds the refresh rate is jerky. I only use it for backing up. Also it has sound. You can hear someone in the back talking.

Is that on your Furrion or the Voyager?
