Exclamation Odd smell coming from kitchen faucet

Ok this a weird problem.....we have the type of kitchen faucet that has the pull down hose/sprayer and when I pulled the sprayer to rinse the sink I got hit with an awful smell, kind of like spoiled milk ?? I then filled a glass with water and no smell, after eliminating all I could think of. I then realized that the black braided hose is where the smell is coming from....but why. It only seems to be in the section that comes out of the faucet housing, nothing underneath the sink....I have never had one of types of faucets before so this is a new one to me.
Any thoughts anyone..... Thanks

When we get a smell from the fresh water it’s from the WH. If it’s sat idle too long without draining the WH the water will have the “rotten egg” smell. A good flush will clear it up (or draining it before storage). It’s only from the hot side tho. The odor will be apparent from any hot side tap in the trailer.

I would be surprised if the faucet was causing the smell.

Well we are FT so it has not been idle. There are no smells in the bathroom faucet and it doesn't matter if it is hot or cold water. I actually ran my hand on the braided line and could smell it on my hands and then got closer and could smell it from the hose itself.....bizarre I know! So, I'm either thinking of changing out the hose or just getting a different faucet. It just makes no sense this is a new unit. You don't smell it when the hose is retracted ??

Ro, is this what your faucet looks like? We get a strange smell from it when we turn either the cold or hot water on after it's been sitting for an hour or so. It's like it's expelling air when you first turn it on.

Perhaps you have a leak around that end of the hose that wets the stainless weave around e hose. Pull the hose out, run the water and see if you can find the leak. It may be in the fitting or the hose itself. To kill the smell pour bleach over the hose to kill the smelly bacteria. Leve it sit for 10 minutes and rinse.

Don't know how this got here. I can't delete it. I was trying to help a guy out that had a bad smell in his kitchen faucet.

That's it Al....exactly like that! I have tried to find the brand name for it with no luck. I have never had a faucet like it before, but that can't be a normal thing

I will try that....it doesn't have a stainless weave, it is a black weaved plastic type? If it is leaking it is very minor because I have checked under the sink and the hose is dry below the weight.....I will definitely try the bleach.
Thank you

I had to get rid of that style because our cat would rub on it and turn the water on. Not a good scenario if your gone for hours.

The symbol just below the handle makes it a Phoenix, I think.

That's why I always turn the water faucet off when we leave the RV for a while. Not that we have a cat I'm just peronoid of something happening and flooding everything. The wife thinks I'm nuts.
