depends on your age and your ability to sit in the cab. We drove to AK from MN in 5.5 days.... I can drive north of 15 hours a day without issue though...

Ak to minn can be a beautiful drive depending on the route.

I'm not retired so it's more about the destination than the trip. I don't bother with campgrounds on long trips, I just find a motel with a big parking lot, then relax with some adult beverages to take the edge off.
X2 the only thing that keeps me from doing more miles is my wife gets tired of riding in the truck. It would tire me out more doing the short distances everyday.

300 miles in the mtns at 25-60 mph is way different than 300 miles on the freeway at 65-70 mph.

And 5 hours in LA traffic feels like 300 miles

X2. Rent cars in Florida are cheap. We rented a Chevy crewcab last week for $12 a day from Alamo in Sarasota.
In 2004 my son & I drove pulling a cargo trailer from Salem, Or to Ft. Worth Tx. We left on Friday morning stopping about 10pm in northern Nv. Left about 8 and got to Ft Worth about 3am Sunday. We were beat.
On other rv forums I see a lot of folks use a variant of what they refer to as the " 442 " rule. Four hundred miles or 4pm you stop then 2 cool drinks in your comfy chair.

It’s doable if you are a glutton for punishment. I drive no more than 4 hours s day. That’s just at 300 miles a day. When I drove from Oregon to Arkansas (home) I took 10 days. Good luck!

i live in ne florida and was born in seattle. I figured taking it easy around 7 or 8 days. Everyone is different but 4 days would be ok for a mad man...

I can get 700 miles the first day, maybe 600 the second, but it falls way off after that to around 3-350. Don't know why.

I could never be an OTR truck driver.

I understand the adventure, but for a cruise I would just fly and do the RV a different time. A lot to go wrong, schedule pressure, etc. Flying makes the cruise part easy. Come home and go on an rv trip. Plus, it will likely cost less.

It took us four days to get from IL to OR. We stopped 100 miles from home the last day, because we were just tired. Done driving.

“Half Ton” says what I’ve been thinking. If you can, break this up into 2 trips (this year and next year). Fly for the cruise and pull the 5th for the Mouse. IMHO 3-4 days is not nearly enough time for WDW. Sorry, I know we’re spending your $$$.

I did a cross country trip leaving from hermiston OR this last year. Ended up in FL. We stopped a few places for a few nights. Our longest travel day was 650 miles and it was all of a 12 hour day. Our average day was about 450 miles. I am also a truck driver by trade. Completely different in a pickup truck then a semi. I did plenty of 700 mile days back in my day. First thing to keep in mind is fuel your going to find you will likely have about a 300 mile range unless you have a aux fuel tank. So plan to stop for fuel 2 times a day at least. Straight though I would limit it to no more then 500 miles a day. So your looking at 6 days each way at least. On our trip we took 5 weeks off to do the trip. Also your gonna miss a ton of cool stuff if you just drive straight through. Again 6 days each way and honestly your probably gonna be exhausted by the time you get there so plan 1 day of recovery on each end.

Another thing to keep in mind is the Rockies. Weather can be a factor depending on when you plan to go and which direction you go. On our trip I averaged 13 mpg but that dropped to 7ish though Wyoming and Colorado. So we went to about 250 miles per tank of fuel. FYI there are pot holes in Wyoming on I80 that will eat a tire and brake an axle if your not careful. My average speed in Wyoming was close to 55mph due to road conditions. You will also see as bad as our roads in OR are they are among the best in the country. If your truck takes DEF you will burn a ton more pulling then not pulling. My GMC gets about 6000 miles to a tank of DEF not pulling. That dropped to close to 1200 miles a tank. My recommendation is every other fuel stop put DEF in if you need it or not. When you get into the middle of the country and make fuel stops at little road side gas stations DEF will not be available.

Last recommendation is download and use the gas buddy App. Saved me a nice chunk of $ on fuel. Go to camping world and get the good sam card it saves you .05 cents a gallon on gas or .08 cents on diesel at pilots, and flying J's. That said you will find the farther east you get the less competition pilot and flying J's are on price. There are cheaper alternatives sometimes 1 more exit up the road. Good luck and have a safe trip.

We took our time out to Colorado. Although we lost days because of time difference. When heading home towards Michigan it seemed like it took forever to get home. I know from California to Florida takes 5 days unless you really hoof it. I would say a week and I would go the I 40 route. It was a nice route home. We took I think the I 70 thru Colorado to Utah and after spending a week outside of Denver near Golden? I would not do a trailer on the way west. That is one steep dive. So many warnings. We came home from Grand Canyon. So the 70 thru Colorado will test the brakes. Maybe south thru California to Arizona to the I 40. UP to you. Good luck.
