Our trip out west

Agreement with wife when we bought our 377 a few years ago is that we’d do a summer trip out west (we’re from the Philadelphia area). Neither she or our daughter had ever visited that area of the country.

After two misfires (2020 because most destinations were closed due to Covid, and 2021 because my business was unstable due to extreme growth), we finally hit the road this year.

We left June 12 and will return July 28. Itinerary took us through Ohio up to Wisconsin, across to South Dakota (we spent several days at The Badlands and then the Black Hills), Devils Tower, WY, couple days in Cody, and now wrapping up a week in Grand Teton National Park.

Yellowstone and Glacier National Park are next, and then we wind our way back home through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

We’ve been through nasty tornado weather, 105f degree heat waves, scares about Yellowstone closing, and some incredibly steep routes, but so far it’s been an amazing adventure.

Anyway, here’s some of my favorite shots so far, and a shout out to this community who helped us prepare our rig for comfort and reliability (which it’s been so far, knock on wood). I’ll update with photos as we continue.

Lowmiler, sounds like a great trip & glad you're enjoying it also. We too left Philly area June 12 & headed west. Ran into Heat, wind, rain, traffic, construction, etc but mostly great weather & great sights/scenery. Stayed mainly north and seem extraordinary sights. We are currently Camped just outside of Glacier NP. This was always on my DW's Bucket List.

BTW, The Road to the Sun should be opening July 13th, so be prepared if you're here before that.

Heading slowly south toward Yellowstone & the Tetons, but first some Flyfishing in the rivers of Southern Montana

Wow, just breath taken I love those pics, I see that the price of higher fuel is not stopping you from doing what you love to do, stay safe.

And... you have not hit but a few of the spots of the area west of the Mississippi or really the Continental Divide that make the Rocky Mountain States so well known for these picturesque moments.

Real nice pictures!!!We did a similar route, last fall.....Badlands/Black Hills/Yellowstone/Grand Tetons/Devils Tower/Glacier...beautiful country! In a month we are going to do it again only it will be the southwest US.

Sounds like you’re doing our trip in reverse, very nice! We’ll hit Voyageurs National Park on the way home, and a few days in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

We’re in Glacier July 8-14, our Red Bus tour from the west side was scheduled for the 10th. Hoping the Road is open by the 13th and I’ll try to take our dually up to Logan Pass (that should be scary).

Our daughter is now 15 and will have her drivers license next summer, this was our last chance to kidnap her, so we’re just dealing with the fuel costs. Filled up yesterday for our trek today at $6.76 gal for diesel…

Absolutely, I caught a couple good ones as they stood there posing for us along the Cathedral Spire trail. One of them is going to be our Holiday Card this year (we’re a family of three).

Even though I brought my professional Nikon DLSR rig, complete with multiple lenses, I’m finding that my IPhone 11 max pro is doing a fine job. So that’s what these photos are from.

Low, thanks for the posts! The Bride and I did a similar trip in ‘17. I retired in late ‘16 and we’d planned the first “big” trip for a while. We started in the Houston area and headed north to S.Dacota. Turned west till we hit Y’stone. From there we turned south and made several stops, the best was outside Colo. Springs. Finally picked up I10 and saw sign “75,000 mi to Houston”, (or so). Stopped off in Marfa but finally found H-town. Awesome trip and your pics reminded me of how much we enjoyed the adventure. We spent 6 seeks total and best of all we got snow in Y’stone.
