Same dollar amount is quoted by Jayco. Sand and clearcoat up to $1500.00 US Dollars. To paint it is costing me out of pocket $250.00. Mine is going into a local paint shop in September. Jayco has already approved the quoted cost.
The oxidization is getting worse each Week.
This is on a 2017 Eagle 321rsts

Roadrunner have you tried Meguiars oxidation remover product. I have on my 2016 and I got some shine back. Next step is the Meguiars high gloss polish. I hope I am onto something. I will report back. Just waiting for the rain and heat to subside here in Chicago.

I gave it 3 coats of meguires wax last fall. Oxidation showed up after 2 months in Texas and Florida in the winter. It's getting done in September again right after the sand paint and clearcoat. At least 3 coats of wax. It's still beading water and the bugs are not sticking on lower part of cap. I am not keen about trying to fix it now and spending more $$ on it when it all gets sanded off in two months

Roadrunner. Did you use Meguiars oxidation remover first? Meguiars offers at three step process. Oxidation remover first high-gloss polish 2nd and Meguiars wax third.

It didn't show any oxidization last fall so being a new trailer I just waxed it

I sure hope the UV protectant I have been applying every 4 months to the cap slows the oxidation problem down on my cap. I also have a 2017...291RSTS.
With my luck it will probably just delay the defect from showing until my warranty runs out...

Update on my Oxidation issue on my 2016 Jayco 27.5 RLTS. I started with the Meguiars Oxidation Remover last week and I applied it by hand. Stated with small sections until I worked my way across the top of the nose cap. Today I started with the Meguiars High Gloss Polish or step #2. Again I applied by hand small sections and did it three times See photos attached. Next step is the Meguiars Wax and I plan on using a orbital polisher with adjustable speed set at 1000 rpms. I will post those pictures when done. Kind of pleased by the turn out. BTW I am following the directions of the Meguiars Oxidation Remover back label.

Please let me know what you think.

In these pictures I cannot see the oxidation anymore. Looks good. Give it that wax as soon as you can, that is the protection layer you need now.

Carnauba wax. Depending on amounts of washes and hot days I would guess 3-6 months. Usually the best shine though.

Really impressed at how this DIY clear coat job turned out and I'm really tempted to do the same with my fading front cap. Please let us know how this is holding up over the summer season. I'm concerned the sun will quickly dull the shine but hope it lasts.

Just got back from a 3 week trip to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. 3200 miles in all. I didnt clean the bugs off the front cap till week two. Where I did the spray the clear the bugs are gone but its dull under where the bugs were. I am tired but will start cleaning in a few days and will try to buff it out either by hand or with power. Unfortunately I dont think its going to hold up well. May have to get automotive clear the next round and tape it off and use a spray gun.

Looks good and I really hope it lasts for a while. I'm about to order the Meguiars kit and do the same to the upper part of my front cap. Based on the experience I had with my last 5th wheel I suspect this will be an ongoing battle.

Few I am adding 20 inch of clear vinyl wrap across the top portion of the nose cap on 8/12/19. Same type of vinyl used on race cars. Five year warranty. About $400.00. l post photos and details when completed.

Well the dull under where the bugs where didnt shine back up with a power buffer. So I order some automotive clear and will do a test area to see if it lifts the other stuff. If it doesnt and looks good I am going to tape and paper it all off and give it a few coats of the automotive clear coat.

This sounds like a great idea. Looking forward to the pics. Is this a DIY thing or a shop that will do it?
