Panel inside upper refrigerator vent

Dometic refrigerator just doesn’t seem to cool properly, pulled the upper vent cover and found a sheet of wood paneling covering 2/3 of the opening. This is a 2019 model. Seems it is reducing proper air flow and keeping heat in. Is there any reason it should be there?

It's a baffle and most likely correct. Refer to your fridges install manual to see if the cabinet is built to manufacturers specs.

Yes it is suppose to be there but the best thing to do is download the installation manual and check that it was installed per the manufacturer. On our Seneca, this panel was installed 2” to high and a metal baffle was installed backwards, deflecting the heat back into the cabinet instead of out the vent. Cooling got a lot better after cutting the panel down to the correct height and the baffle corrected. The thing that improved out fridge cooling the best was to add 3 fans at the top to blow heat out of the vent. These are just 3 fans off Amazon and wired to temp sensor on the coils.

Thanks for the reply and photo. Looks like your baffle is shorter but I will check the installation specs. This unit has 4 fans blowing air up,I checked all are working. Would you suggest the additional?

If you look at the edges of my panel you can see where I had already cut it down 2” in this pic. From the factory ours has 2 fans and I added the 3. IMO I like the fans at the top to blow the heat out the vent instead of the fans on the bottom blowing it up into the fridge cavity.

I just noticed this panel after calling domestic.

My fidge was having problems keeping up with outside temperatures at 80

I'll have to see if I have fans.
Dealer said the panel is normal

Had to throw all the food out.
