PDI today of 382FLRB

Doing the PDI this afternoon. Anything beyond obvious cosmetics that I need to add to my check list?

Make sure all systems function correctly and if anything is not right walk away and give them a drop dead date to get it right. Don’t sign anything until it is right because if you do it then your problem and not the dealers.

i see you have a 3500 SRW in your signature and have a DRW on order. Are you upgrading because the SRW isn't enough truck for the 382?

Tough question - I suppose weight police would say it is not. My experience over the summer was this - The 382 is big, very big. The pin weight is probably near 3500lbs when the trailer is loaded. No real issue there, my yellow sticker is over 4300lbs. My issue is the pulling power of the hemi, it can do it but wow does it work hard. Going through the hills in Pennsylvania it struggled and MPG was down to 6. I also like to carry wood, tools etc in the truck which I refrained from. So bottom line - short trips 100 miles or less, no problem. I plan on taking longer trips on the 400-500 mile range and feel it will just be more comfortable with the diesel and the extra stability of DRW. YMMV

I had my wife follow behind us and video the whole thing. This way, you can refer back to stuff if you forget. He was very thorough and my wife did an awesome job videoing it. I can't tell you how many times I referred back to the video. Very helpful.

For a couple hundred dollars I would pay a professional to do an inspection

I saved your PDI as well, but not that I am about to purchase an RV, but that it is also a great guide for an annual inspection for what I already own.

Thanks, CA

That is a great idea. The purpose of the PDI is not only to help ensure the dealer has done proper prep but also to instruct you on the various systems . The expert inspector won't be in camp with you. And you will forget as there is a tone of info thrown at you.

Stan & Sharon would you PLEASE e- Mail me a copy of your PDI Checklist. It is the best list I have seen in my 42 years of owning R/V’s . I started out with a 1970 Dodge Travco 27 ft class A….This list will be put to very good use by Kids and Grandkids. My E-Mail address is A125b@bellsouth.net Thank you very much…..

Thank you for posting the PDI. A very thorough document. WE expect to take delivery of a Redhawk sometime in November. I don't think the dealer is going to be pleased to go through every item you've listed. Especially that the unit is winterized from the factory. I may have to pay to re-winterize the unit after we are done. If you have been watching the forum you have seen many folks with new units and a host of problems that have originated in building of them. The workmanship has really slid to a big low. So I have great concern. Also, this dealer is at least 45 miles away. Art

After waiting 8 months 5 days finally they shipped my trailer. I went to look at it and it looks great but with one problem. I had ordered the disc brake upgrade that was suspose to enclude 17.5 Goodyear Endurance tires H rated. Instead it came with 16" China bombs one. I'm refusing delivery of it until proper tires are installed. A heavy trailer needs better tires on it so not to worry about a explosion of one. I already contact Jayco and my dealer of this problem. Sure has been a fight to get it.
