Congratulations. Glad to see you have a truck that matches the trailer. It should be a breeze to pull. Here is to lots of great trips with the new toy!

Big - yours is SRW?? That's awesome to find someone with same set up! Does your truck sag at all? Any problems with the camper? I'm doing my walk through on Saturday.

Yes it is SRW. We only towed it empty so far on its way home last Wednesday. It is an FX4 pkg with 20" tires. It towed better than our 2012 Keystone Avalanche. When we did our walk through we found only minor cosmetic things so far that the dealership is taking care of. Are you in NY? Where did you buy it from?

I live in Corinth Texas. We are buying ours in Sherman Texas. I was concerned about the pin weight for our truck.

We have a 375BHFS which has a similar weight to yours and after pulling it home (~300 miles) a couple of weeks ago and on our first camping trip last weekend with our 2012 F350 SRW, we are joining the dually club. The truck has plenty of power to pull it, but boy did you know it was back there. My husband drove bringing it home and I drove to go camping and we both feel like a dually will be a better, more stable option. That said, I know there are people who have similar size/weight units who pull with SRW 350/3500 and even 250/2500 pickups and say they have no problems. For us, we decided the weight was too much for our SRW.

BigBertha, when you look at your 5th wheel plate, how far would you guess it is from the top of the plate to the top edge of the box? I just installed a B&W Companion manual slider and the top of the plate is only about 3" from the top of the box. This seems a little high, but I haven't hooked up to my camper yet. I have the exact same truck as you. Thanks.

Dave

Dave we have the factory fifth wheel package with the pucks. We have the adapter frame to to the hitch on top of which is about 3 inches higher than the rails. I think it more than 3 inches from the top of the bed rails but the camper tows level where our Avalanche was nose high. I hope that answered your question.

I don't know because we had airbags. Bottom line is our camper is too heavy for our SRW for us to be comfortable with it. We sure hope the dually will be everything numerous people who pull heavy 5ers have said it will be. We are headed out camping again on Thursday night or Friday morning so we'll see.

DRW will help a little with your sag problem but it won't eliminate it. You'll still need supplemental suspension. Be it air bags, Timbrens, etc. Dually's do have thicker spring stacks and a higher GVW than a SRW but still will need help with sag.

Well I'm going to see how it goes today. I'm picking up the 38FLSA at 3:30 today. I have owned two other 42' fifth wheels, so im use to pulling them; however the pin weight of this one is about 700 pounds heavier.

Yeah, it's a big boy, but a gorgeous RV. We looked at one before we bought what we have now.

<sigh> one day...
