Pigtail for auxillary hitch on rear of trailer.

Were are the wires for the rear hitch on a pinnacle, they put a heavy duty hitch on back and no pigtail?

It's not a hitch, there should be a sticker that says "Not for towing". It's only to be used for a cargo carrier and not over 300 lbs.

Which 5ver do you have?

Grumpy is mostly correct, but as I recall some of the 5vers, can tow a light trailer. If this is a new unit, you could verify on the build sheet. Otherwise you would be best to contact Jayco with your Vin number and inquire, you can also ask for the 12volt wiring diagram

The EAGLE line can be ordered with a hitch which is totally different then what's on the PINNACLE. JAYCO says "No Towing" with the PINNACLE, there's a sticker right on the cross bar.

The Eagle HT's are the only ones that have a tow rating.

I have a 2016 Pinnacle and hope the following comments will help you. I have pulled a second trailer behind my last four 5th wheels so this is not new to me.

I had a certified welder install a second cross member that is identical to the one from the factory and run a 2 1/2" Heavy tube on top of the cross members and out about 6" on top of the receiver tube. I pull an ATV trailer and I guarantee it will now handle any tongue weight you could ever put on it.

For the pig tail I figured I would have to pull both tail lights to connect for the brake/turn signals but first I unscrewed the license plate light to wire in for the running lights. When I pulled down on the license plate light wire I found a complete loom that had all the lights. There was enough slack to pull it through the license light hole and hook up the pig tail wires with quick connectors. First I drilled a hole in the bottom about straight down beside the receiver, fed a cord up on a wire and used another wire with a hook on it at the license light hole and hooked the cord. Then it was just a matter of pulling the pig tail wires up for connecting. If at first you do not find any wires at the license plate light hole fish around above with a hooked wire and you may find what you need. Good luck.

The supposed rationale for putting a receiver hitch on the HT's and not the Eagle's and larger, is due to the length of the larger model trailers. On my Eagle HT, the limits for the receiver hitch are 300lbs tongue weight, 3,000 lbs total trailer weight.

In states where it is legal to tow a second trailer behind your 5er, there will be a maximum legal length. In Michigan, that length is 75' total from the truck's front bumper to the very end of the second trailer. Jayco felt larger trailers larger than the HT (Eagle, Pinnacle, Designer, North Point etc.) would be over length with a second trailer anyhow making the receiver hitch on the back of the 5er pointless.

Like I said, the max length in MI is 75'. I was looking into towing down into Wisconsin and found out their max length is 70'. My rig with my new boat comes in at 72.5' which gets me where I want to go here in da U.P, but too long for WI. An endorsement for a Michigan driver's license is also required to tow a second trailer a.k.a recreational double in MI. I got mine last summer. Very easy to do, study a pamphlet and take a short written test. No road test required.

FWIW, the pic was taken by a co-worker on her way to work last fall. I took the day off for a long weekend. She happened to be behind me on her way to work as I was headed out of town with the boat behind the Eagle HT for the first time.

I felt so guilty about about it. NOT!!!

I installed the "factory" Jayco hitch assembly on my 29RKS. I located the lighting wiring in a harness at the rear of trailer, and tapped into that wiring for my trailer wiring harness (4 way). I pull a 5x8 utility trailer behind my TT for my golf cart. Easy peazy.

Hi. I have a 2021 northpoint 377rlbh. My license plate light is o. The right (RV door side) because the ladder is on the left. I have the new lights that have the backup lights included. I removed the 4 screws from the lens but it was difficult to remove the assembly. I didn’t push it. I believe the silicone was holding it. Stopped at this point to get a better tool so as to not damage or scratch the paint. Question did you run into this. Did not want to cut into underbelly

I have a 2021 Eagle 336FBOK and have a factory installed hitch with a 300/3000 rating and flat four wiring. The owners manual says I can tow a trailer behind, is this different on the eagle than the pinnacle?

I have a 2020 Jayco Eagle Series 317RLOK 5th wheel and am pulling am going to pull a golf cart behind it on an aluminum trailer. Can't seem to get the wiring correct for trailer off the back of 5th wheel. There are so many wire combos in the harness on the back that when i think i got it. I didn't. Need a wiring diagram for the back of 5th wheel to get this right. Is there anyone out there that can help me with this issue ?

Do you have a flat four pin harness next to the hitch?

Ah ok. So you have nothing on the trailer at all, correct? Does it have the towable hitch installed?

I have to have running lights on continuously in order for my 2nd trailer lights to work properly. There are quite a few wires that when you ring them out ( example: Right Turn Signal - You have to different colors blinking at same time. Same with Headlights, Brake Lights and ETC. ). It is very confusing ! I have wired many trailers and have yet to figure this out. In the past I have just run an extra 30 ft wire up to back of truck to make it work. Trying to get away from doing this again.

yes, there is a hitch that was installed by factory but they apparently forgot to add the harness.

Some of that wiring is probably the Jayco Jaysmart functions.
