Pin box
Pin box on my Pinnacle is a lot shorter than the one on my old 5th wheel. When backing under to hook up, need to be as straight as possible so tailgate does not hit trailer.
Anyone else noticed this on their fifth wheel??

Nothing to compare to here.
Certainly something to keep in mind when hitching up.
I was relocating the trailer to a new parking pad here at home the other day and nearly had a incident no closing the tailgate. I was only moving about 100 feet but involved a moderate turn around the side of the house and I was being lazy and shortcutting things like hooking up brakes. As I begin the turn I happened to look in the rearview and realized I was inches away from a mess.
It was another reminder to never shortcut my normal procedures.

Both times I dropped my fiver on the truck bed was when I allowed myself to divert from my routine methodical procedure.
Short cuts and distractions can cause serious damage to your rig and more importantly your life.

That's another good use of a slider hitch, you can slide it back before hooking up and it gives you more clearance between the truck and trailer when in a tight spot

Yes Jasum, I always have to hitch up on a slight angle at home in my driveway.
It never mattered on my previous CedarCreek.
Glad I stopped short the first time I went to hook up the new NorthPoint or the corner of my tailgate would have went through.
Now I have to back in until the pin box is far enough in the bed, then get out and close the tailgate. If I missed by a little, get out open the tailgate..repeat.
When I get delivery of my 2017 F350 it will have the remote open tailgate, so it will save on one of the steps.

Don't think it is the pin box, but the length of the front overhang, storage compartment to cap. I know JAYCO shortened the overhang on the 2016's, at least on the 38FLSA due to frame stress.

I have a shortbed truck that had a slider hitch, I found I was never using the slider and replaced it with a standard hitch.. with the tailgate down there is just enough room to for me to fit between the trailer and tailgate, I wouldn't make any turns but there is enough space to hook up being a little crooked..
on another note I found out the the little latch that rotates on the release handle really needs to be down... I though it was just to keep the handle from accidentally being bumped open, but given enough force the jaws will open on their own (rv was in soft ground)

Grumpy I'm not sure they shortened the overhang or installed a shorter pin box on my 2016 Pinnacle.
I might have maybe 5" between tailgate and fifth wheel with tailgate down. Ill me a measure next time I hook up.

I have room to walk around with the tailgate down and mine's a 15. My pin box only extends 6" past the leading edge of the cap. The pin itself is directly below the front edge of the cao.

I have about the same amount of room as Jasum...and my pin seems to be like you described Grumpy.
The little angle I have to back in at is the only angle I will hit at. A little more angle and I can back right in.

I didn't bother because it doesn't make that sound all the time. The dealer will look at it and say there is nothing wrong. I'll have to wait until it breaks. I got the 7 year warranty, I got it because of the fridge, the Schwintek, and the Ground Control.
If I don't ever make a claim on the warranty, after 7 years I get my money back. So they say...
My trailer is there right now, for the last 3 weeks. They haven't even looked at it yet. I made the appointment in July. Even told them what parts for them to order so they would be there. Nope. they still have to look at it first THEN order the parts.

Yeah I know....all dealers are the same!!
I did NOT get the extra warranty.
My refrigerator got a new compressor and a new condensor as of August 1.
Sometimes after frig. or freezer have been opened temp on freezer goes up as much as 10 degrees then back to zero after a while......
Hope it is alright now....

I know many disagree, but I always buy it too. Also I've gotten prorated refunds when I trade or sell even after having claims.

That's what mine does as well..
If I shut the fridge off for 3-5 mins the freezer temp goes up around 12 degrees without opening the door. Then it takes about 20-30 mins to come back down. When on battery power, that's a lot of juice.
I don't understand why the temp rises so fast. The fridge section doesn't do it

So are you saying what THEY told me was the truth? I will get my money back if I don't make a claim? I thought it was too good to be true, but I am sure between the fridge, landing gear, or slides, something is going to fail and cost me the $2000 cost of the warranty anyways.

I can't imagine Frigidaire designed these refrigerators to do that??
The second time we went camping when our Pinnacle was brand new, the Frigidaire freezer and fridge side both started warming up and did NOT cool off again at all. That took only around 5 months to get repaired.
Hoping it keeps working............

Simple solution is a 5th wheel tailgate.
Wouldn't be without one.
