Pinnacle 17.5" tire and disc brake upgrade factory option

Has anyone ordered the Pinnacle 17.5" tire and disc brake factory upgrade option?

I upgraded the brakes to disc on my current Fifth wheel...so I know the pluses...just looking for more info on the Jayco Pinnacle option.

Pictures and thoughts appreciated.

Thanks!!

I see these options as a must have unless the $ are way more than haveing converted after purchase.especially if going full time.
We were pretty close awhile back to going bigger and while shopping I allways wondered why 40+ ft long 5ers didn't come standard with disk brakes from factory.

this is the option price I was quoted:

"Hydraulic Disc Brakes w/17.5” Goodyear H Rated Tires $4,995.00"

Those 17.5" tires are expensive!!

We just placed an order for a 32RLTS yesterday!! Ordered this as one of the options. It also comes with the 8K axles which is not mentioned. I had them check and double check.

On the website that option is 7500. 5k isn't a bad deal. I know people that have had disc brakes installed and that is 2k alone. You're getting upgraded axles, bigger wheels and tires, higher load range tires for 3K. I wouldn't hesitate.

I asked Jayco directly by using the contact option on their website. The 17.5 tire option does not include an 8K axle upgrade. I hope the factory told me wrong so you got them. Have you verified they are actually 8K?

I asked 2 times, dealer talked to the factory rep who said "yes" it comes with upgraded axles. Guess I need to ask 3 times. And the more I think about it... the basic upgraded hydraulic option is $2843.00. I would hope it would not cost someone almost $5000 more to just add wheels and tires? MSRP price of course but still? Could certainly do that easily aftermarket for a lot less. I am hoping they just need to update their wording for better clarity. But I am checking.

Sorry about that. It is frustrating in this industry to get an accurate answer. Please let us know if you get a different answer.

We had ordered our North Point 382 with the disc brake upgrade last march. When it arrived at the dealer it had China bomb 16 inch tires on it and not the Goodyear tires it should have. We refused delivery of the trailer until Jayco finally replaced the tires with the proper ones. Finally took deliver mid December. Don't let them pull a fast one on you. We really like the disc brakes as our Carriage had them on. Stops way better than the standard ones.

We have goodyear 614's on our current 5th wheel and have been very happy. TPMS shows they run a lot cooler that other tires and less pressure rise. I would not accept china bombs either. They would not get away with that. A friend added disc brakes to his Grand Design and was very happy with them so it's a must have for us.

the Pinnacle brochure says 4000 lbs. leaf springs are standard...but the standard axle is 7000 lbs. which never made sense to me.

I can't help since none of these options were available for my 20 but I am curious. Does the suspension upgrade change the GVWR and payload capacity? Also curious about the 8K springs with 7K axles. Is that something new? I still have the brochure on mine and no mention of it.

Hopefully I will be posting pictures of this in a couple of months then...along with a lot of other information

Please do.

I guess the key is how it will ride. To be honest I was a bit surprised Jayco would offer a heavier suspension on their lightest Pinnacle but the folks that figure these things out are a whole lot smarter than me. This is fifth wheel number 6 or 7 for us in the past 40 years or so and we've never had one ride better and that was before I installed the Roadmaster shock kit which took it to a whole new level.

I really liked the tank like features of the 17.5 wheels and tires on our last fifth wheel but it only had 7K axles with a 17,500 GVWR. With it's rear kitchen and a lot of weight back there it could get pretty uncomfortable. We eventually had the MorRyde IS installed which certainly helped and invested in an air ride hitch.

I think Jayco has done a pretty good job of balancing the load which helps a bunch. I know it will be while but looking forward to hearing (reading) what you think.

The trailer was ordered mid March and delivered to dealer mid Nov. with wrong tires on it. I waited to pick it up until they had install the Goodyear 17.5 tires on it. Picked it on Dec. 14 and put in my building. Waxed and ready for the summer this year.
