Pinnacle battery compartment

What ideas have you all used on fixing the poor design of the battery shelf over the two stanadard batteries which make it impossible to maintain the rear battery (or or even see it!!

I removed mine, I'm running four six volts, I put two boxes in, two batteries in each. I have no problems checking the water levels and I store some jack pads and tire chocks on top of them.

Just took delivery of mine a few weeks back, had them add 2 additional batteries at that time. They are all side by side (4 across). The compartment contains no method of holding them in place so I plan on using aluminium angle to box them in place.

There are only 5 short sheet metal screws holding the shelf in place. I just pop the shelf out once a month or so to check the batteries.
