Pinnacle DC-DC Charger Install

I am installing 2 Victron DC-DC chargers on a 2021 Pinnacle. Mounted the chargers last winter. This winter wiring them to the truck. Plan on running 4 gauge wires from the truck battery.

Has anyone run wires from the pin box to the batteries on the Pinnacle.

I have not but like you I would be interested in how to run wires from the pin box to batteries. I believe there have been a few that have accomplished this task. Hope they chime in.

Completed the truck install. Fabricated a few spacers to mount the plug in the bed. Connected the 4 gauge wires to fuse and relay in the truck engine compartment. Connected the relay to one of the truck aux switches.

Followed Kirkelli's recommendation on running the wires. Found the cross member just behind the pin box. Jayco sent me a frame drawing. Drilled hole just past cross member. Inserted a steel wire fish tape. It came out in the front compartment.

Next week, will pull the wires in the 5th wheel and use a solar wire flush mount.

Completed the installation today.

Will test it tomorrow. Loading up the inverter with a 120 load. Charging batteries from the truck.

Trying to figure out a good way to get that heavy wire down through the goose neck area, running a heavy wire safely from engine compartment back, installing the plug in bed side, and cost of the charger all made me decide to install lithiums. Drive all day and still have plenty of power for fridge, jacks, etc and we don’t boon dock.

Why did you decide to use the timer disconnect vs a charging relay?

After reading the install and operation manual for the ATD I realized that the ATD is a better solution than the BlueSea charging relay.

Thanks for the install pics.

Ended up rewiring the truck side wiring to 2 gauge. Due to voltage drop.

Did some testing. Connected a 100 amp inverter load to the batteries for an hour. During that time the chargers average 59 amps output. Until one of the 2 chargers would kick out for low voltage. Voltage dropped to 10.5 volts.

The Victron chargers are programable. Could have reprogrammed to stay on with the lower voltage. Did not like that option.

With 2 gauge wire on the truck side and 4 gauge wire on the 5th Wheel side. Repeated the test. The voltage is now 12.5 volts. After running for an hour. Did reprogram the chargers to 12.0 volt cut off.
