Pinnacle Fresh water drain

Hey Gang
So while it looks like we'll miss the worst part of Hurricane Dorian, it got me thinking about sanitizing the water system in case we had to high-tail it and had to boondock on the run. While we will likely stay put, it's time to do this anyway.

I'm putting together my own checklist since the manual is so awkward. Because it's hot out and I'm lazy, can someone tell me where the Freshwater tank drain it on a Pinnacle? I have the low point drains of course but have this horrible feeling the tank drain might be in the "Pit of Dispair (disrepair)" behind the basement bulkhead.

I've searched the forum and found lots of good advice on sanitizing but if someone could give me a shortcut to the Tank drain on a Pinnacle, that would be great.

Thanks as always
Angus

Oh and best wishes for safety for those south of us!! Our park is filling now with refugees.

Angus, I could be wrong but I think it's behind the panel to the left on the passenger side basement door. Either there are behind your rear passenger side wheel.

Al, of course that was correct; behind the starboard rear wheel. What threw me was that the decal on the outside of it was labeled "Low point Drain", same as the actual low point drains farther forward. But what clued me is that it matched the picture of a more robust hose and drain valve in the manual.

Tomorrow morning we sanitize, prioritize and finalize.

I'll use the pour-the-bleach-in-the-fresh-water-hose method offered up by Mopar_Earl and others, even though Jayco insists that you do not- just like they insist that you don't do a lot of things - without explaining why.

Stay safe and if you are in Florida, head north now! The water is fine up here.

We're still in the mid west part of Louisiana (Boyce) and not moving until 9/3.

You could also remove your water filter, put bleach in canister. Probably time for new filter anyway. Much easier than messing with hose.

Jack, I think he was talking about sanitizing his fresh water tank. If like me, I've never used it since I'm always on city water.

Jack, the idea of using the filter bowl for the bleach is brilliant and practical. Thanks. It’s on the way to freshwater tank when you use the POWERFILL settings. At our delivery, the dealer recommended that when the stock filter cartridge is done (like now), to toss it away, put the empty bowl back on and install a less expensive in-line filter at the pedestal.

I ended up using the bucket and siphon method as described in the manual, but next time I’ll just put the 1 1/4 cup of bleach in the filter bowl, then powerfill the 75 gallons to the tank. Easy peasy.

Thanks Jack and everybody. Now just tell me where the storm is going to go...

Angus

Angus, they're saying it may head up the coast which will cause problems in Georgia & the Carolinas.

yeah yesterday we made reservations at a CG in Sumpter, SC only to wake at 3 am today to see that the revised track is taking Dorian right there or close to it. Now we've made reservations for tomorrow northwest of here near Macon, GA. We are 90% packed and can pretty much un-plug and go...
