Pinnacle vs North Point

I am getting a either 2021 north point 377 RLBH or a 2021 pinnacle 37MDQS. is the pinnacle work the extra money?

Pinnacle: You gain 6" of body width, plus the deeper slides, so maybe 10" wider overall with both slides open vs North Point?

You lose the pantry next to the stove, which gets moved to the wall of the bunk house, which loses storage in the bunk house. Think you also lose the fold down bunk in the Pinnacle bunk house. So maybe not an optimal bunk house vs the North Point for multiple kids and long term use.

I also notice that the North Point now has a deeper slide in the master bedroom, giving lots of space at the foot of the bed when extended, while the Pinnacle is still using the shallow slide. One thing I absolutely cannot stand in my 18 377 is how cramped the master is with the slide open.

You might want to ask the factory if the Pinnacle will also get the deeper master bedroom slide at some point in 2021, but maybe the 6" wider body is why they didn't feel the need to add the deeper slide?

Pinnacle!
We have a 2019, 37MDQS and love it. The extra width and upgraded finishes are worth the extra money.

73stroker, I have a 2017 Pinnacle 37MDQS and personally, I/we, will never scale down to a North Point. The Pinnacle is well equipped and extremely well appointed. The only problem with owning a 37MDQS is, every kid in the campground wants to see if they fit in the attic bed. As for price, it is hard to put a price on seeing how much the grand kids enjoy both the attic and the extra bedroom as they call it. To each his own, but we are very happy with the Pinnacle 37MDQS.

Not long after we moved in FT, friends who have a Jayco TT for family vacations came to visit. When they stepped in, their faces changed and he said, "OH, now I get it. This really is a HOME." He stands 6'4" and was impressed with the feeling of spaciousness.

I think the finishes and materials make it seem closer to the feel of our prior homes. Only disappointment is the Furrion oven, but that is not a North Point / Pinnacle thing, and I understand that with the new ones you can get a real residential style range.

Good luck with your deliberations!

cjpomery, DW and I JUST went through this same comparison. We ultimately ended up ordering a 2021 NP 377RLBH (yesterday, as a matter of fact)

The deal breaker for DW was the location of the pantry, and the lack of a linen closet in the bathroom on the Pinnacle.

Good luck in your decision making... I feel your pain.

I love my Pinnicle, But if I had it to do over I would not buy another Jayco. To many problems with the way they are built in the factory. While they do stand by there waranty parts take forever. I have had mine for 18 months and its been in the shop almost as long as its been with me. Next time its going to be a Norwood Artic Fox or a Newmar class A But hopefully this is the last shop trip and I will not need to buy another one. Just love the floor plan in my 36SSWS.

Sorry about that. I did not notice the model numbers. You are correct.

I think there is more room to negotiate on the north point line. One thing with rvs is you tend to get get what you pay for. If 6 inches width and a slightly more robust suspension, and a little bigger frame is worth the extra $10k ish price tag. I personally opted for the NP. My 2018 377rlbh has been structurally solid. We have had some issues with appliances, and furniture. Bings both the pinnacle and NP have the same appliances and furniture i see no advantages with the common problem parts. My big deciding factor was I wanted to pull it with a single rear wheel 1 ton. And the NP 377 is right at the limit of my truck. The pinnacle tends to be heavier.

We looked at both and ultimately decided on our 2019 377RLBH. We preferred having the pantry and cabinets in the bathroom. Only thing we wish we had was a bit more space in the master at the foot of the bed but we don't live in the bedroom so it was negligible for us. The extra cost for 6 inches of width, losing the flip down bunk and the finishes that we really didn't see much improvement over the NP did not impress us enough to make the jump to the Pinnacle. Maybe after the kids are grown and gone and it is just us and the dogs but never know.

Those last two posts are really good, cogent and pithy arguments. Goes to show that bigger is not always better under the spyglass of one's needs.

The wife and I are also a bit disappointed in the space at the end of the bed in the bedroom. My solution is on its way. We ordered a 75 in long mattress to replace the oem mattress thats 80 inches long. If you look at it the oem mattress actually hangs off the base by about 2 or 3 inches so all im going to do is cut another 3 to 4 inches off the base and boom we got the extra 6 inches of space. This isn't a problem for us as my wife is 5.6 and I'm 5.10 so we will still have plenty of room in the bed. And the best part is it just considered a short rv king mattress. So there are a few manufacturers that make them. Nothing custom ordered. Oh and the oem mattress is great for an rv. But we spend about 6 to 7 months of the year in ours so its only lasted about 3 years.

We picked up our 2021 Pinnacle in August and it has the deeper slide in the Master. For me I think the Pinnacle’s features are worth the price, only you will know what fits your needs and lifestyle. Good luck and enjoy!!

When we purchased our 377 we looked at both. And actually only say the Pinnacle in person. It didn't have the flip down bunk so that was what did it for us.

As others have said, it is wider, and it also has a fiberglass rear cap. As for finishes, the Pinnacle uses real wood cabinet stiles and doors. The stiles in the North Point are sticker wrapped and the doors are hardwood. The rest of the materials are the same and all of the other components are the same.

The Pinnacle is shorter by a few feet.

We looked at both when we bought and either would have worked for us. We just liked the finish work in the Pinnacle much better and the wider body gave it a roomier feel. We felt the extra cost was worth it.
