Power cord spool

Our '16 pinnacle power cord roll locked up while retracting the cord yesterday. Motor won't run now and the spool won't release to pull the cord out. Anybody had this problem?

Sounds like the cord jumped and jammed. I don't remember any brake on the motor.

Give it a good yank or try turning it both ways by hand first, what do you have to lose. Mine did that one time, like Grumpy said wire was caught up.

First trouble I get from mine, I'm getting rid of it. I don't like the cheap contacts inside and it takes to long to retract while carefully feeding the wire in.

Wife and I both tried to pull it out together and it won't budge. When I pulled it in yesterday morning it sounded different, stopped with about 4 ft of cord out. I need to try to figure out how to get to it maybe from underneath. I've got the plug through one slot in the door and the cord through the other so it's off the ground. 400 miles today and I'll try to see what's going on. Got a 50 ft. 50 amp extension cord with us...probably be the first time I've used it.

If it jumped off past the reel side guard, you won't be able to pull it out.

It's still on the reel best I can tell. I could remove the door and trim and maybe see a little better to the sides but with the enclosed underbelly I'm not sure what would be the fix.

Ours did something similar, but I was able to Yank it loose. It was my fault as I managed to get the cord tangled in the spool. I called the company while under warranty. They coordinated with our dealer and sent me a new improved mechanism. The repair was above my pay grade and I saved it for a few months until I could get it to the dealer for other warranty work. They are over 300 miles away from us. I went back to pick the camper, and they fixed it but did not install the new parts!! I have the parts at home and now reel the cord in very carefully. So far so good almost 3 years later.

Did you push the reel "over the top" to unlatch the mechanism?
I learned early on to do that with the last few inches of cord - otherwise it stays locked.

Update on this. Reel was hopelessly locked. Dropped the reel down and got it on the bench in the shop. The gearbox/motor combo that drives the chain on the reel sprocket is locked up. I removed the gearbox, took the chain and drive sprocket off the shaft. The gearbox was made by rex engineering in Florida. Called and they still offer a replacement. This one was #6748. Should be delivered Monday. Seems to be a pretty easy reassemble process. Lifting the reel with the cord still on it will require a little imagination. The gearbox/motor combo was less than $100. Hopefully we'll be going again in a few days.

Got the replacement motorized gearbox installed, everything is working like it should. Reinstalling the metal lower panel, there's a trim piece that covers the joint between the fiberglass and the metal running horizontal and then the piece on the rear between the rear cap and the metal. This was originally sealed with a clear sealant, and I need to reseal everything. While it's in the shop. Did they use a lap sealant or a Silicon based sealant for this?

Probably OSI Quad Seal or Geocel.
