Power Draw Closing Slide
Hi, We have a 2016 Eagle HT 29.5. I have an inline hard wired surge protector, with 50 Amp service coming in. When I am home, I am on shore power with dedicated 30 Amp service using a pig tail adapter provided with the 5er. When I close the main slide, when its at the final stage of closing, the lights basically go out, and back on when I release the button. Does anyone else have this issue? I never had this issue on my old TT

Slides are battery only, being plugged into shore power won't help the slide motors. You have to start with your batteries. It takes 12+ volts to operate the slide properly.

I thought slides were 12v, so plugging into shore power would mean the converter is driving the slideouts, not the battery per se.

Not so, battery only. Slides don't go thru convertor at least not on my Jayco

They do on mine. If I put 120v on the rig while the slides are moving you can hear them speed up.

Wouldn't that be the result of the AC-side energized on the converter and the DC-side boost voltage provided to the batteries?

Not sure, but I deploy my BigFoot Levelers on battery - plug in my coach, hook up the water/sewer/etc. (the slides get in the way), then I deploy the slides.
When I debark, I pull the slides in first, unhook everything, than pull up the levelers on battery.
I try hard to only use the battery for the levelers.

True, but converter is still supplying voltage to the battery which gives slides a boost.

X2... 120VAC > Converter (12VDC) > Battery(s) > 12VDC Slides, etc.

I haven't checked my converters voltage but normally to charge a 12 volt battery it takes 13.7 +- . If so the motor should turn a little faster, IMHO.
I notice my electric jacks seem faster when shore power hooked up but see no difference on the Equalizer hydraulic levelers plugged in or not

Batt. + to Power converter output 12 Volt + is the same output. There is a fuse or circuit breaker at the battery and on the panel there is also a fuse. So no matter if you have 12 volt power from your battery or the converter (on shore power) supplies 12 volt power.
Converter size vary from 30 amps and up.
