Progressive Industries EMS-PT50C Error Code

If you had a Progressive Industries EMS-PT50C go bad, and they replaced it under warranty, what was the error code that indicated your unit was defective?

I’ve had 2 PI EMS units but no probs with them. Did you verify that the code is not reporting a real power issue? If it’s really failed, give them a call. I called on a Sunday and got a call back in less than an hour. Excellent customer support!

I have had 3-4 PT50's sacrifice themselves for me over the past 8 years of full time usage. The only indication I have ever had of a problem is when the unit won't pass electricity to my rig on one or both legs. On all occasions (except one) the unit would cycle through it's usual readings and the voltage showed normal, just no power was being passed to my rig. On one occasion the power was being passed, but the LED screen wasn't working.

On all occasions I put my backup unit into service and shipped the bad one back for service. Originally I had two PT50C's and those have been warranty replaced with the PT50X.

My PT50X shut me down yesterday due to an open ground, but it was temporary and I'm back in service after the 2 1/2 minute delay.

I will absolutely not plug in anywhere anytime without my PT50X in line.

Thanks for your replies. I filed a warranty claim last evening(Sunday) on line furnishing a picture of the purchase slip and two pictures of the EMS as required, plus giving them the error code and description of the problem. When I checked my Email after lunch today I had a reply that the warranty claim had been approved and a new EMS unit should arrive in 7-10 days. They also stated they did not want the old unit back and to just dispose of it. This just backs up all the good things I continue to read about their customer service.

Thanks for the follow up! I’ve had no warranty issues to date but the one call with a question was answered quickly.

Just need to close this thread with one more follow up. New PT50X(latest version) to replace my PT50C was delivered yesterday afternoon, five days. Just want to commend Progressive Industries for their warranty and customer service.

My PT50C was exposed to a lot of rain last month and started giving an error code indication of low frequency. I set it aside and continued camping. When I got back home I contacted Progressive and they have moved to Iowa and do not repair any units, only replace those in warranty. Mine was not in warranty, 2nd owner, so I sat it aside for the next trip.

It must have repaired itself because it works flawlessly after drying out. Still a great piece of camping equipment.

I've always used some 'protection' over the top of our PT30 to keep the worst of the rain off. It's gotten very wet on a number of occasions, but not soaked and hasn't missed a beat.

I always put a heavy bag over the power pedestal but failed to this once. It's working fine now so, lesson learned.

Anyone try calling Progressive lately? I can’t find the receipt where I bought mine so I have been calling for two weeks to see if I can get mine replaced and can’t seem to get anyone to call me back. I did talk to a live person in customer service but they said tech support is who I need to talk to. She said they were short handed but 2 weeks and several messages is a little much. If I am screwed without a receipt just let me know. I went ahead and bought a Hughes Watchdog for the latest trip but I still would like to get the Progressive replaced if I can.

I called them about 2 months ago. They are no longer in NC but have relocated to Iowa or somewhere out west. Keep trying. I was able to determine that mine was not in warranty because I'm the 2nd owner and they no longer do repairs.

If it's in warranty, they will send you a new one but you have to prove you are the original owner.
