Kind of pricey. I just bought a laser infrared thermometric for about $10. They use to be way over $100. I think I'll wait for the price to come down a bit.

can't imagine spending that kind of money to find out how many "inches" of propane I have. Knowing it has 5 or 6 inches of LPG doesn't tell me how long it will last.

I think making a habit of topping one up every week will ensure you always have propane. It is what I do.

This has probably been covered before but there is a way of knowing the amt of propane in your tank by using a bathroom scale and a calculator. On the collar of the tank there is a number called the TW. This stands for tare weight. This is the empty weight of the propane tank from the factory. Here is the formula:

Weight of the tank in pounds
Minus the TW
equals the weight of the remaining propane
Take this number and divide by 4.25 (the weight of one
gallon of propane) and this gives you the remaining amount
propane in gallons.

I saw those last night and I was wondering if it was worth the money. Some reviews said it worked great and others said it didn't work at all. I ordered the strips that go on the side of the tank for $4 that you poor hot water over. http://www.organizeit.com/accu-level....asp?cmpid=SLI

I've used those for years on my home grill. They work well, are very accurate, and best of all, you can't beat the price. In the cool weather, if the sun is shinning on the tank, you can just feel the side of the tank and know where the propane level is. It is really obvious when you feel the tank.

Have not seen an easy RELIABLE gadget yet, so I simply don't worry about it.
When one tank goes empty, I switch to the other full tank and faithfully refill the empty promptly.
With two 30 lb tanks, I've never come close to running out.

Exactly!!

We don't worry about the level or weight...better things to do.
