Proper Loading of the camping gear
I've done the math and I'm just within specs as far as my FW and TV go but I do believe I can easily get over loaded if I stuff too much gear in the truck or camper. The question is should I keep the heavy stuff in the back of the trailer and the light stuff up front? My wife likes to pack lots of stuff so I need to have a plan. Thanks.

Third time around I have gotten more efficient. It's amazing how much "stuff" comes out and how much "extra" stuff gets stored and never used. I was able to take out over 150 pounds of doubles, and unused stuff this time around. I am a firm believer in totes. I use them to change out for the trips needs fast and neatly. A balanced approach is better, but not always attainable. You should pay the most attention first to side to side then front to back. Yes you are going to increase your pin weight if you front load the unit.
In the 5er's case with the basements that is pretty much your main option on the gear side. I keep it as central as I can and keep the heavier items to the rear of that location as best I can. My front hold is now specifically chairs and rugs only. Inside I try to keep the balance as best I can as a kitchen can take on significant weight so keep the cast iron on the opposite side of the rig to offset the fridge and pantry.
Only load what you need first then look what you "want" second. After you load go over a scale and see where you are at on the axles. If it's balanced somewhat then keep that plan.

What 3 says.
Pack up & hit the scales! Pack for a real trip and make your 3 trips over the scale.
IMHO, an ideal weight and loading may require some tuning. Once you know your weights you will no longer be guessing. My pervious TT was an X23B and while we were good on weight and in the recommended wt on the pin, the rear axle weight was "close".

I was trying to explain to my wife that we need to be weight conscious when furnishing the camper... that went well. Maybe if I tell her I'll need to upgrade to bigger truck ($$$) she'll get my point. HaHa

Glad it's not just me. I did end up buying a bigger truck. Now she wants a side by side and a toy hauler.

toy haulers are pricey, just get a 5th with a hitch and a small utility trailler
thats my plan when i bring the 4wheeler anyway

I'm up there near my limits too. But DW plays nice when I tell her to watch what she puts in the rig. We don't need a lot of "stuff" to be content, so that helps. She watches the finances, so she REALLY doesn't want me to buy the truck I want! LOL!
I just got a new truck a couple years ago, so my next one comes in 8 years or so, and she already knows I'm getting the big one next time; I'm done messin' around!

It is a vicious cycle. We had a Durango and a pop up. Went to a travel trailer, then had to get a pickup. Then an Eagle HT 26.5 rks, followed by an upgrade from a 1/2 ton to a 3/4 ton. Now we can have a bigger 5'er. We pick up our Eagle 31.5 rlts next Saturday. This should do it for awhile.

I wasn't allowed to buy the trailer until I remodeled the kitchen first. The DW refused to have an RV with nicer kitchen cabinets than what was in our house.

I think if they ever started requiring R/V's to cross scales like tractor trailers, their would be a lot of people getting over weight tickets....
