Pullrite hitch users - where do you attach the breakaway cable?

Just picked up a gently-used Pullrite “Super 5th” hitch.

For other Pullrite users (other commenters welcome), where do you attach the breakaway cable? This hitch has the same head assembly as the Superglide but with a fixed base. The design has a very clean, flat panel face which looks great but no obvious place to attach the cable.

I have the breakaway cable connected to the release handle. Tried the hole on the saddle. Cable caught when doing a turn. Never had an issue since putting it on handle. Just make a loop using the loop end.. Like a half hitch. Pull it up the lead compression connector keeps it taunt on the handle.

I put a loop in mine and put the pin that holds the head unit on. Never had a problem.

release handle,, I had put it somewhere else before and it got caught on the hitch, and ended up puling the e-brake pin out going around a corner, and coming to a full stop with brakes locked up., had to get out in the middle of the road and put the pin back in, to deactivate the brakes,, embarassing..

I put a carabiner on an eyelet in the rear corner bed of my truck and attach the breakaway cable to it.

X2.

Also got 2 of these breakaway cables to ensure had sufficient length for turns and backing up.

Huh, i never thought about not having enough room with it connected at that point, but i guess if i had to turn enough one way there's the potential for it to become taut.

I do not attach to the hitch in case the hitch ever comes loose or causes a problem. I have a heavy chain on my truck loop that I attach to so that it is independent of the hitch. I had to use the chain for the cable was too short and cam out a few times when I was making a real tight turn.

I've got a IRS Superglide 16K and there's a hole in the channel iron piece that holds the head. I just shortened the cable a bit and bought one of those large key clips, and clip it there. Just as long as it's connected to your hitch and doesn't get caught while turning, you'll be ok.

I have a 16K ISR Superglide and attach my cable at the release handle. I use a pad lock in the slot for the handle and hook the cable with that. Its probably over kill but I use the lock to assure me that the handle does not bounce up and release.

I was thinking that through as well.

I saw the lock illustration in the owner's manual but I don't really need to lock the hitch and it is one more key on my key-ring. I am thinking about just popping a carabiner in the slot so the handle can't lift.

I run the breakaway cable to a d-ring and attach that to one of the cargo tie downs in the bed of the truck right above where the 7-pin connector is. Works like a champ and the DOT approves since it is secured.

I have a 18K ISR Superglide and attach my cable at the release handle. Appears to me that use of a Pullrite Superglide hitches would result in a lower possibility of the cable being caught or stretched on the hitch when turning because the hitch head with handle and the trailer turn as one unit and not separately. If I was not using a fixed hitch, I would probably connect the cable to the tie down in the back end of my truck.
