Purchasing 293RKDS Next Weekend, I Hope

On March 10 my wife and I went to purchase a new 2018 293RKDS. The dealer had the trailer connected to power and water and was ready for us. We took the PDI list that is on this forum and gave it a three hour inspection. We found a lot of little things that need to be corrected but also found several big things that could not be corrected that day.

The dealer told me we had a two year warranty so we could purchase the trailer and have the items fixed at another date. I thought, I am not using my warranty to fix problems that should have not got out of the factory. So I asked the dealer to keep my deposit and call me when the trailer was fixed.

The big problems (all had to be approved and ordered from Jayco) were small holes in side topper on the kitchen slide out, awning would not close correctly (after trying several times adjusting, they think the awning was not cut square), bent window frame on the kitchen slide and the real biggie the plastic fender skirt around the tires on the kitchen slide was mounted about 4 inches high. When the slide was closed the fender skirt edge hit on the side of the trailer not on the curved bottom of the trailer! This is not simple fix because the skirt can not be lowered because the screw holes would show on the side of the slide. So the metal that the skirt attaches to had to be replaced.

Talked to the dealer today and the metal is shipping on April 11 and all the other items have been repaired or replaced. So maybe we can get our new trailer next weekend.

I want to thank the person who posted the PDI list along with Mopar_Earl and Doubleheader for all your posts on the 293RKDS! We have owned a Jayco TT since 1998 and know what to expect as far as RV's go, but without that PDI list I would not have found some of these problems. If it is ready, Talladega here we come!!

I wish that all RV buyers could read this before they sign on the bottom line. You just saved yourself quite a bit of frustration that is so common with new RV purchases.

Congrats on your soon to be new Jayco.

Thanks! That is one of the reasons I posted. It has took five weeks to have the things fixed but I think well worth the wait. Thanks to the PDI list and the information I found on this forum we knew what to look for during the inspection.

Two year warranty, but has limits. So best to get things fixed during the PDI or before you sign.

We love our 2017 Eagle 293RKDS!

Doubleheader, I am not so sure my wife was impressed last month when we drove off the lot with out the camper! I do think she understood just disappointed, but he is happy now.

Picking it up this coming Saturday. The replacement metal shipped out 4/10 so it should have arrived Friday or tomorrow. We can't wait. Been with out a camper for over a month.

The past month we have been busy installing 50amp power at my carport cover. I raised the carport cover 2 feet so the FW would fit. It might would have fit but would only had a couple inches clearance in the middle. I wanted to have more clearance and the option of parking it closer to the edge of the cover. That was a lot of fun! Also purchased Progressive EMS-PT50X power protection and since the trailer has the on demand water heater got a Watts high flow water pressure regulator.

The dealer order it with just about everything. Some I like and some I would have passed on if I could order it. Since Jayco no longer makes this unit and not many left in stock I have to take what is available. And that is not many, at least in my area. It has

AC in bedroom
Auto Leveling
Residential fridge
Morryde pin box
TV in bedroom
On demand water heater
Sanicon dump system
Backup camera
Dual pane windows
Grill on back bumper
Not an option but the dealer had Jayco install slide toppers
