Question about heated tanks

2018 Jayco North Point 43' 5th wheel. Two gray tanks, black tank and fresh water tank all are supposed to have some kind of heating element. Does anyone know how they are activated? I have 50 amp service hooked up 24/7 so what tells the heating elements to come on?

Thanks

Vic

They're probably 12V heat pads wrapped under each tank if equipped. Look for the switches in your control panel where the slideout, water heater, water pump, awning switches are. That's where they'll be and labeled as such. If the switches aren't there I doubt you have the tank heaters. At least that's where I've seen the switches in other campers. Good luck.

Underbelly is heated by the furnace but only works to a point provided you use the furnace and not any other heat sources.

Like said above, if your tanks themselves are heated, they will be 12v and have switches in the command center where your slide out switches are. If not, you don't have heated tanks. Not an option on Eagles. The higher end units like yours may have the option available.

Question about heated tanks

Jayco calls it the Extreme Weather Package and shows it as an option under the Seismic units. I had to specifically ask for it when I ordered my North Point ( it is not listed on the website as an option for North Points).

According to Jayco’s site: 110 volt heated holding tank pads, 12v wrapped-heated fresh water line, interior illuminated switch.

I have the switch and the option was listed on my build sheet. I don’t know if the 110 pads work off of the inverter. I wouldn’t think so. I also don’t know what fresh water line is supposed to be wrapped. I’m guessing from the fresh water holding tank because nothing is wrapped coming off the back of my P1.

For me the major concern is the water supply to my residential fridge (it freezes at 12 degrees) and the wet-bay. Wrapping the water supply isn't easy as we are travelers. The wet-bay is easy, just put the drop light in there.

From what I’ve been told, that was one of the reasons a jayco went with the dedicated water dispenser with its own “tank” for 2020. The entire system is in climate controlled areas unlike the feed to the fridge (as you noted) and must be shut off during cold weather camping.
